I rarely do on messenger services if I need to get something done, because I won't otheriwse. I'm not very motived if people are chatty at me. On forums, never.

It seems kinda tarkoitukseton (pointless) to hide your status in PPT. i haven't done it in quite a while now

When I'm on PPT I don't because I find it hard to believe someone is constantly refreshing my profile obsessively to find out if I'm online or not.

I do it quite often on Yahoo Messenger though.

I don't hide my profile anywhere, but on forums that have the "reading this thread" list, I do tend to lurk, post, and re-lurk, because it embarrasses me.

On MSN I tend to keep my staus to Away all the time so people who have nothing to talk about don't try and talk to me. I get sick of it afte the third "so..."
On forums I never ever do. I don't see the point.

I almost never hide my status, wether on MSN or on forums. this is mainly due to the fact that i'm too lazy to click the little button in my profile that says "hide your online status".

I don't hide my status on PPT, but I do on other forums (IDB and NCW). Oh, and about 80% of the time on MSN I'm "Appear Offline". I go online and 6 people start talking to me, it gets annoying after a while

It totally depends on what I'm using. On PPT and MSN messenger, I never hide my status. But on AIM, I have it rigged so that only the people on my list can see if I'm online (not that anyone talks to me...just don't want people from work who have figured out my name to see some of my away messages and such).
