Aliens...

Mon May 15, 2006 12:39 am

Do you believe in Aliens, or well more to the point, life, as in beings, on other planets?

I for one do.

Why? Becuase it seems a bit arrogant to believe that we as humans are the ONLY living biengs in this universe. I mean it's been proven that the universe goes on forever right? Well then shouldn't there be another race out there? Somewhere?

I don't believe in tiny green men in space ships. But as for life on other planets, I believe there is a possibility of it.

Mon May 15, 2006 12:46 am

I don't either, but I do believe that there is a race much more advanced than ours which do have spaceships and etc...

Mon May 15, 2006 2:09 am

It's likely that there is a race out there that's more advanced than our own, but then again, there might not be. and races die in and out every once in a while. come 2000 years, we may either be extincit due to global warming, or we may be so advanced that we are able to take visit other planets. The book Expedition and the accompanying tv special Alien Planet really showed how probably alien life is. and how different advanced life forms might be in comparaison to us

The universe doesn't go on forever, it does actually end. There's theories about how the universe may be done expanding (or is close to it) and will soon slowly contract creating another big bang.

Anyways, back on topic... I do believe there is life out there. There's most likely species less advanced than us and more advanced than us, but the universe is so big that there's millions of possibilities for where they live.

I believe in aliens.

They keep deleting my English essays off of my computer so I can't hand them in.

Oh... sorry... that wasn't aliens. That was me.

I'm sure there are aliens, but the question is whether they've been to Earth, can get to Earth or would even want to.

Mon May 15, 2006 6:54 am

My initial reaction was "aliens? pishaw!" but I do sometimes consider the posibility. It all depends on whether I feel like believing in them or not.

In the end I don't think that if there were any intelligent life forms from other planets they would come here. It's billions of light years from anywhere that could have life and really, why would they come here, and for gosh sakes, with anal probes?

If there were life on other planets I really doubt it would have any humanoid appearance. Just look at the life forms on our planet alone, jelly fish look nothing like humans so what are the chances that life on another planet would have such a resemblance to humans?

I believe in aliens, yes. My reasoning is exactly the same as the poster of this thread. We CAN'T be the only ones in the universe. It goes on for infinity afterall. There are probably millions of planets that are similar to earth, maybe some even more advanced. They may be living like we could be living in 10,000 years time! The possibilities are just amazing and it really makes you think. I just LOVE thinking about things like this.

A while ago I got another thought: What if the universe was actually just a marble in another world? And that the universe that held us, the marble, was in fact in another universe and that the universe that held it was just another marble, and it continues like that? That would be classed as infinite.

I believe in aliens, and they scare me so much. I can't even watch ET, I get freaked out.

I once watched this show on alien abductions and stuff and I had to sleep with the light on for a week. Did I mention I was 14 at the time? Ha.

Also, has anyone else seen Fire in the Sky? Creeeeeepppyy. *shudder*

Sugarinii! I missed ya!

I bet that's how it is, kinda like Sims, we're being controlled by alien children at this very instant xD

Like Bangel said, I don't believe in tiny green men, but I do believe that there is some other species/race/life forms in the universe.

To qoute a simplified version of the Fermi paradox...

If Intelligent aliens existed. We would know.

We should see their great works, Dyson spheres, black hole farms, terraformed planets. Anything.
But we see nothing.

We should hear their chatter, war plans, emmiserial messages, heck their owwn verison of the Archers.
But we hear nothing.

Ofcourse its not that simple.

If we cant see or hear them, why not?
Are we not advanced enough?
Unlikely, we know what to look for.

Are we too barbaric for them to make contact with?
Doubtful, it is survival of the most adaptable afterall.

Then why?
The Universe stands at some thirteen billion years old.
The earth itself at some four.
So why do we not see evidence -and not just some mentally questoinable person called dave- of colonisation waves? Great rents in the planet caused by some unimaginable force tearing away at our resource rich world, or even the remenants of a great battle, were a benevolant over-seer of our world defended us from the hideous von-neumann machines of the Centaurites.

Who knows, but I for one belive that the reason we see no other mind in the universe is because we are the Ancients, the Old ones, the Xel-naga, whatever you would have.

Damn straight.

I reckon the figurative chance of a species that becomes dominant, which would naturally be a violent and agressive species, will pass its expiration date before space travel happens.

A species that evolves on a perfect planet, everyone is co-existing perfectly and totally okay with it all? They'd never risk space, elecricity, fire...

Though alien archers might be nice.
