Teacher gift idea

Sun Jun 04, 2006 5:23 am

Hello, I posted a few months ago about needing a gift idea for a teacher and you guys greatly helped me. I bought a nice pen and it worked out great. Now it's the end of the school year and I want to buy another gift that I could give with a card. It would be for a young female teacher and it's also a farewell gift. P.S.: I think the chocolates thing is overdone.
Thanks for any help. I greatly appreciate it. :)

When I used to purchase presents for my teachers I always used to buy gift baskets. Trouble with buying them pre-made is that half the stuff in there is total junk. Maybe you could make one with a few little bits and pieces. You could even make it a bit like a picnic basket?

I'm never much good with gifts, I always prefer to know exactly what someone wants and then buy that. Good luck with the search though :)

I make knitted dishcloths for my daughers teachers, bus drivers that kind of stuff. They're easy to find at farmers markets, craft shows, craft places.

You always think of the best and most child safe ideas, especially if it's a young female teacher. :P

Why not have both!

I gave my teachers irritating presents like 'The little book of Calm' for an angry one and 'The book of pescimism' for a happy one'.

How about one of those singing basses? :P

Don't worry... Be happy...

Teachers like apples. :P

Er. Does she like to read? Perhaps a book. =)

How about a funky stationery set? :D

EDIT: or you can make a collage with pictures of your class and special messages from everyone?

Our teacher is a tie connoisseur so we bought him a tie and all signed it on our last day :)

You could do something similar with whatever the teacher collects :)

Medusa, I am a gift basket junkie! I love nothing better than going to the store, finding fun, useful and pretty things then finding a nice basket and making my own up. Usually I'll include things like one of those pocket size books - there's so many now for just about anyone, or a journal if I know they like to write or are having a vacation soon - and a pen, a small box or bar of luxury chocolate, a candle, a box of tea, a mug and usually a goofy toy kind of thing, like a boxed mini zen garden or mini slinkee.

I haven't decided on a gift idea yet. I don't want to make anything, I'd much rather buy because I don't find arts and crafts will cut it. Can anyone think of a gift that is good and pratical for an appartment but still has a personal touch to it? Thanks for your help. :)

Maybe you could find a decorative picture frame or a plate or something. Something small that would make a nice accent.

Something with some hilarious underlying meaning is always good. i had a teacher who was bald. and he kept his head all shiny. so we got him turtle wax :P

Her favorite book in hardcover?!

Or...

I used to give fruit baskets when I was younger. Or maybe a customized keychain?! Does she have like a set of keys or something with her alot? That would be kinda cool.

But for a young female teacher.. How about... makeup? No? Then... Bath and Body Works or Victoria Secret's baskets.. you know the ones with lotion and perfume and whatnot...

EDIT: Or accessories (sp) ?! Like chunky necklaces or some earrings.. That'd be cool.
