Summer School

Who else has to suffer? I'm in for failing Math.

Best thing ever about British school- no summer school, and you can't be held back a year. Booya.

Some may not see it that way. If you're failing at Maths or any other subject, it is just going to get progressively harder and you're more likely to fail more. :P

In my school you can be held back a year, I think...

But wahey for us, no summer school. ;D

I wanted to go to summer school but the charter school that I am enrolled in, we have to pay for summer classes. But I wasn't required to take it..

Anyhow, you get to meet some new people at least. Good luck with summer school.

In the UK you've got to be really really bad to be held back a year - not a really common conception, at least not that I've seen..

Actually, that sounds good. Imagine how nice it'd look on a college app. or something.

I'm taking a summer course in uni: Field Methods in Archaeology. I get to sit in the dirt all day.

In Italy, it's not serious. You're supposed to study by yourself during the summer and take a test at the beginning of the school year. Of course almost nobody studies, but they can't hold you back a year so it doesn't matter anyway. They're trying to change the system now :P

I'm taking Grade 11 Chemistry :).

It was voluntary xD. I'm looking forward to it actually. Like es.dee said, you get to meet new people, and I don't have much to do over summer anyway.

I -should- be going in to do Drivers Ed (I didn't fail! I just haven't taken it yet.), but as we're moving my parents said not to bother. :P

Meh, I think it's possible, but you can't actually fail a year. You can fail your GCSEs or A Levels, but you can't fail year 9 and not be allowed into year 10.

I am learning to drive this summer while waiting to see if I passed my AS Levels.

My original plan was to take Grade 11 Biology in summer school, and then coast through the course work, but that plan fell through. so, no summer school for me

This is my third consecutive year in summer school. All of them have been voluntary. :P

Of course, despite the diminished break, I don't have anything better to do. Anyway, I'm taking Biology 12, as my school doesn't allow anyone to skip Biology 11 (which I haven't taken). Summer school subverts this system.
