One Red Paperclip

Sun Jul 16, 2006 1:55 am

If y'all haven't heard about it, this Canadian named Kyle Macdonald started out a year ago with one red paperclip. His goal was to keep trading the paperclip until he got a house in a year.

Well, this past Wednesday he did it. On July 12th he signed the title to the house in Kipling, Saskatchewan. He traded a paid, credited movie role for the house. The town itself actually gave him the offer, which included (besides the house) the key to Kipling, Honorary Mayor for a day, and Honorary Lifelong Citizen.

His blog is here.

I think I remember reading about it last year, and I think it was a great idea, and I'm glad that he actually did it.

Yes, I heard about this on the radio a while ago. :D

Clever.

Throughout this whole thing, I only had one thought. Why couldn't I have thought of that first? Still, I think it's great that he did that, and I hope he really enjoys the house.

Clever man. :) Wish I had that kind of motivation.

Kipling isn't very far from me, and this has been all over the news recently. Maybe I will go try to meet him in August. :P

Wow. You've got to be dedicated and patient to do that.
