They've banned... TAG?!

Thu Oct 19, 2006 1:35 am

Some school decided that the game of Tag affected self-esteem and was targeting kids.
I'm mad, Tag is like a HUGE part of elementary school.
Thoughts?

What!? Tag was crazy fun when I was a kid. This is really going to far. Soon people won't be allowed to do anything because it will affect us in some way. NEWSFLASH everything affects us and its the negative and positive things that make us learn. If everything was safe and dirt easy life would be no fun and people would have no character :x

Way to overprotect and coddle your children.
Thats a great way to help their future self esteem!

No kidding. Tag is SO harsh compared to high school. Or heaven forbid the 'real world'. [/sarcasm]

Mothers can not coddle their children forever. This is just stupid.

Heh, the person who disagreed has the same name my mother has as her maiden name. And my mom would agree with that woman.

That's so silly. It seems as though some school admins need a wakeup call. If the kids don't like it, why not exclude them from it? Don't ban the whole thing for a madeup reason and ruin everyone's fun!

Tag affects self-esteem?

I'm so sure six-year-olds are traumatized by playing tag...Honestly that is just completely stupid and ridiculous.

I have lost all faith in humanity. Well, at least California.

That's silly. Kinda reminds me of the Sth Park episode where they ban everything in Christmas because it could be offensive to certain minorities.

Self Esteem? Hardly the problem!

"Tag" causes thousands of injuries and even deaths a year. Didn't you know?

[/sarcasm]

That's hilarious, but of course, sad. People actually think this way? >_>

I always hated tag too, because I have mild asthma that gets way worse when I run too much, and when I was a kid I ran kinda funny and sometimes got teased. But man, I still played it, and I fell down, and sometimes I got hurt on the playground (I walked straight into a tetherball pole once...that was unpleaasant). None of the schools I went to ever even had a school nurse (large school in a large city, no money for such fripparies!). If we got hurt we would go to the office, sit down for a while, cry if we needed to, maybe get a bandaid...the end. Kids are too coddled these days. Kids get HURT. That's what they DO. It's ridiculous to try and protect them from everything. If they don't learn how to be at least a little tough when they're young, how can they ever hope to survive in the real world? Mommy and daddy can't protect you when you're 40!

...This could turn into a super-long rant...I'll stop now. :D

How does one win or lose tag? Isnt it suppost to go on forever..or at least until nap or snack time?

*stabs*

The fact that in primary school everyone was forced to 'play' games.
