Oh the ridiculousness of it all.

I read about that, too.

Did folks always post tons of news, or did it start with me? Oh noes.

Who cares if that's how he paints? He doesn't do it in front of his students.

I'm with DiscordantNote on this.

If it doesn't affect his teaching, and from what I can see it doesn't, then who cares.

Exactly. Whatever he does in his personal is no one else's business so long as it doesn't affect whatever happens in the class room. He doesn't do it in the classroom and it's not that big of a problem, then there's no reason to punish him.

Administration. Always making a fuss over stupid little things. All this is going to do is draw more attention to it. And I'm in agreement with DN as well. If it doesn't interfere with his teaching, why should anyone care?

You know what's really funny? His website is already out of bandwidth since that article, which mentioned his website http://buttprintart.com

I'm not really sure what I think. If his identity as the butt print man is interfering with his ability to teach, then maybe he shouldn't have his job. It would be kind of hard to take him seriously. However, the activity seems pretty innocent, so as long as he's not showing his butt in class or anything, I would be fine with it.

Oh. God.

What's next, firing someone because they eat mushroom omlettes for breakfast?

Are they alright if I use egg whites instead of the whole eggs when I make them?

This reminds me of what happened a few months ago in Austin. A high school (I think) teacher was suspended, then fired because she posed for nude photographs. It was artistic nude mind you, not the other less tasteful kind. Anyways, apparently a faculty member found the site the pictures were on and told the principal, and BAM she was suspended. It caused quite a controversy.

But I agree, this is incredibly stupid. It's not like he showcases his art in class or whatever.

Once it gets into the school what the teacher has done and the websites go around and students look at them, it affects the way the teacher is viewed. it is wrong, but that's the way school systems do it, I guess.

Nope. Doesn't matter how you make them, the whole practice is just wrong and should be outlawed.

I had a teacher that used to go to parties with teens and get drunk with them [which is illlegal, of course], and while pretty much everyone knew this, it never cut into his teaching (I mean, students still talked to him casually, but they knew he was a drunk) and truthfully it never affected his teaching or if he could be taken seriously or not.

I think if this would have been left alone, that it probably wouldn't have caused any problems at all, except maybe a day or two of talking, and possibly some jokes here and there, I mean, it's not like he's a pedophile or anything, these sort of things do stick to a person's character for a while, but I've never seen it become a huge problem.

There goes my teaching career. I love mushrooms.
I pretty much agree with everything that's been said. He can do what he wants with his butt on his own time. It's not like he's stripping down in the middle of the town and going at it with a few cans of paint. I'm glad to see he got the ACLU involved instead of going quietly.
