eye bags/eye circles?
thanks.

Concealer or foundation should cover them up, but I don't know of a way to remove that isn't cosmetic.

does sleeping early work?

It might, but I'm unsure.

Sleeping more usually help because black sacks under eyes usually appear out of being tired and exausted. So rest will probably help.

If you can afford it, you might want to go to a dermatologist. The last time I was at my dermatologist's office, I noticed brochures about a special cream made to reduce the dark circles. I am very fair skinned, so I tend to get dark circles under my eyes. I suggest that you get enough sleep, don't sleep on your stomach, and stay away from cigarette smoke. I use a concealer made by Clinique that works wonders.

Also, I just remembered that allergies can cause dark circles as well. So, you might want to see if you are allergic to anything.

This website gives these home remedies: http://ask.yahoo.com/20001212.html

1. Gently massage saffron or almond oil on the dark area before going to bed.

2. Dip cotton pads in fig juice, rosewater, or cold milk. Lie down with your feet raised higher than your head, then place the wet pads on your closed eyes. Stay that way for 10 minutes.

Interesting. I might have to try that.

Heh, I've had the same problem for the last 6 or 7 years. I have terrible allergies (I'm talking bad enough that it almost keeps me from working at all) during the summer and lie on my stomach (I generally get enough sleep, though).

Everyone either thinks that I'm malnourished or I don't get enough sleep. It's so irritating.

I'll have to try out some of that stuff, though. The only problem is that it's (as far as I know) impossible for me to fall asleep on my back. To be exact, I must be on my stomach with my head facing to the left. I hope that's not *too* much of a problem, as far as getting rid of them goes.

I'll probably have to invest in some of those things or that concealer stuff (that's not make-up, is it? :P)

Yep, that's makeup.

I remember reading somewhere that the dark circles can be caused by dehydration (as well as the usual lack of sleep!). And I also read that patting the area lightly can improve circulation ... so my combined theory is that lightly patting moisturiser around (and especially under) your eyes might help a bit.

(Um, it's something I do, but I'm not sure how much it actually helps! But hey, if you have some moisturiser handy... and it might also help stop wrinkles later in life ;))

Hanyway, the Wikipedia article is slightly informative, too.

Yup, dehydration is a major factor. I used to have really, really bad under-eye circles, and drinking a lot of water has helped A LOT.

Also, if you're going to use concealer... I've found that mineral powder makeup is helpful, because you can control the amount of coverage. Liquid and creams tend to either be too thick or too thin.

The one thing that particularly jumps out at me on that Wiki is the "rubbing of the eye" bit under allergies. During the warmer months, I spend a lot of my time doing that because my eyes itch like heck, and I often scratch and rub them to the point that it starts to burn. (which I've also read in the past makes the vessels more visible giving it a dark blue/black colour). I suppose it could be dehydration as well (I mean, I generally drink a lot of water, but I could be drinking a whole lot more)

Thanks, definitely an interesting read. :)

I'm going to have to try that saffron/almond oil thing. I may feel silly doing it, but I really don't care, if it can help. :P

I heard somewhere that putting used teabags on that area helps. I don't know anyone who's tried it though.
