Has anyone ever tried DIY surgery?

Has anyone ever tried DIY surgery? I met this girl at a party last week who did her own eyebrow piercing by using this fish-hook like metal piece and well ... you can imagine what happened.

Suffice to say she didn't recommend me doing it haha.

I know people who've pierced their own belly buttons. *shudder* My boyfriend's a trained piercist so I don't have to worry about the DIY stuff, he's got enough horror stories of his own!

Urgh I once read this article about this guy who tried to cut out his own appendix.

I pierced my own hand, it look really cool but I had to take it out because it went bad :(

I pulled my own tooth out when I was younger because I was too scared of getting injections in my gums.

My friend Devan pierced her hip with a paperclip.

And still wears jewelery in the hole, to this day, several months later.

I pierced my ear several times when I was about 18, one at the top of my left ear and twice on the lobe (behind my 2 original ones I got done prof.) 7 piercings, 5 done myself. And I still have them all seven years later.

Hiker Cuts off Own Arm

I'd say that counts.

I've lanced cysts on myself before, but that's it. The closest I usually get is nicking myself shaving.

I've never performed DIY surgery, but I'm hoping to remove some kidneys next time I'm in Vegas.

OH wow I know tons and have video recorded some.

In grade 8 I knew a boy who pierced the area above his chin and between his lower lip. He said that it didnt hurt, he just felt a POP.

I know 4 girls who pierced their own noses and experienced the same "popping" without any pain.

I know a girl who pierced her own belly button with a safety pin, but the ring was too thin and she did it too close to the surface. One day she accidently ripped it out.

I know a girl that has pierced her own ear 5 times, only once not in the cartiledge. She shoved a giant needle through, then pulled it out and painstakingly shoved a belly button ring through the holes. - THis is the one I video taped and took pictures of. I couldn't bring myself to help as I was scared of hurting her.

I went through enough pain when I got my ears professionally pierced to suit me. I don't need to do it on my own.

No, I don't like pain. The less I have, the better. I did get my ears peirced as a kid, but then I always wore these cheap plastic earrings or cheap metal ones that made them get infected. It got bad so I just let it heal and grow closed.

Folow-up Question For the Ages: If your navel comes untied, will your innards fall out?

I peirced my own nose, but was forced by parents to take it out.....

Peirced my lip a few weeks ago, kept it for about 3 weeks (without rents knowing), when I took it out one day, forgot to put it back in, and now have to find some time to re-do it....

I'm thinking about my bellybutton.

My friend did two more peircings on each ear on her own....at some point I'm going round her house and shes gonna do mine for me. :)
