If you were in a committed relationship ...

Fri Feb 16, 2007 11:47 am

If you were in a committed relationship but your partner had a problem which didn't allow his/her short term memory to be converted to his/her long term memory - so everyday he/she forgets you and you have to make him/her fall in love with u again, how would you do it?

Adam Sandler devoids any "scientific merit" of the "documentary" :P

I find it a little disturbing that we all thought of 50 First Dates when he posted this. xD

Good answer :)

Most people have seen that movie or at least heard of it. Kym definitely watched 50 First Dates, and then got it on DVD.

Ah the joys of stalking Kym. How I miss thee.

I suppose I would give them lots of chocolates, make sure they don;t eat them and keep them for the next day!

Either that or just sign them up to Scientology. IT'S NOT ALL IN YOUR HEAD PEOPLE!

Well, since everything I'd like to say about Kym's movie-watching habits has already been discussed...I don't think I'd bother if it were the same situation as in 50 First Dates. How deep can it go if they can only know the you for one day at a time? But then, I always found that movie a little disturbing.

On the other hand, if I'd known the poor amnesiac before his short-term memory gave out and he just forgot me, I think I would make an effort to try to help him remember me. Maybe the best plan for that would be to do what Adam Sandler did in that documentary and make a video about our time together explaining what's going on.

Dunno, though. It seems like a pretty painful situation to be in, to have the person you love not remember you.

Well it depends on when he/she lost their ability to convert short term memories into long term memories. There is a case where a man lost his ability to convert short to long term memories, but he remembers his wife and his daughter but he says it's basically like waking up every few minutes. He keeps a diary of these 'waking ups' but it's just him writing the same feeling over and over and though he acknowledges that he wrote it, he can't acknowledge that he did it when he did do it. *finding this hard to explain* bleh. I'll go find his name.

How very dare you! The technical term is "Comically Challenged", and you had better start getting used to it.

Political Correctness FTW!

50 First Dates! What a good movie!

If only men in the real world were willing to devote their time to making you fall in love with them again every day

That movie really creeped me out though. I don't know how i'd feel if I woke up and suddenly i'm 8 months pregnant. Like WTH? That would suck!
