Anything and everything goes in here... within reason.

A New York restaurateur has cooked up the most world's most extravagant pizza -- a $1,000 pizza topped with six sorts of caviar and fresh lobster.
It then goes on to say how it's $125 a slice!
I dunno...if I had $1000 I probably wouldn't spend it on one pizza.

Seems like it tastes horrible. If you're going to pay $125 for a slice of pizza, it had better damn well be the best pizza known to man.

Does anyone else think it's just plain tacky?

Agreed. It's a gimmick, and a bad one at that.

I think it's wasteful, but hey. If you have one grand to blow on a pizza covered in fish eggs, be my guest. You earned it, you spend it.
Stupidly.

I don't understand how these things are rated. Can anyone just price their pizza and be in with a chance of having the most expensive pizza, or does it have to pass a certain criteria etc. Same with other "most expensive" foods.

I think it's because the ingredients are really expensive. If not, any shlub with a pizza parlor could prize their pepperoni at 2 grand and beat this guy out in the records.

It doesn't sound like it would taste very good to me, either. I'll go for a double cheese mushroom for $1.25 per slice anyday.

[I] think there is a demand. I have already sold one.
That amuses me
But really. This is just stupid. And not on the part of the restaurant, on the part of the people who'd buy it.

That's not pizza, that's a disaster! The fact that he sold one just encourages this sort of behaviour. =/
I'd only pay that much if it were Chicago-style with sausage, mushroom, onions, and green peppers. And even then it would have to be insanely good.
