The winner was Archie. Apparently this was televised (not for me in Canada) but still. The stories of a lot of these pups are so amazing, and kudos for the people who took them in. As ugly as these guys must be, I bet they have kick butt personalities.
Munchkin looks like my kinda dog!

Some of those are just... danged creepy.

Most of those are honestly ugly (and creepy), but Jake (the one-eyed one) isn't. I wonder why he was even in the contest to begin with. o.O

I watched it yesterday
Trust me... It was freakin AWESOME.
And it had cute little stories for each dog too

Urk. I think I'm going to have some doggy-nightmares now (right after the decapitations of Persians from 300...)
I wonder if people just breed ugly dogs on purpose?

Actually... they were all rescued from the SPCA by their owner. This competition is a very, very good thing. It gives the dogs in the pound that aren't "attractive" a fighting chance at being adopted
THAT is the reason all of this started.

Hmm, I have no idea why Oscar is even in that. o_0 I mean, it's... a pug? I don't really see anything unusual about it.

The picture didn't do him justice. I promise, he was pretty ugly

I love how half the dogs are missing so many teeth their tongues don't stay in their mouths.

Those hairless dogs have some kind of genetic predisposition to losing teeth, and yes their tongues just hang out. It is normal for their breed I guess. I don't think there is much anyone can do about it.

I imagine it's our fault in the first place to be honest with ya.

It's a genetic flaw with their breed often furthered by indiscriminate breeding. Unfortunately there's a lot of unscrupulous breeders (in any breed) who simply breed for the idea of making money, not caring what they do to the breed itself. Those breeds of dogs, Mexican Hairless and the Chinese hairless/powderpuffs should NEVER have their teeth fall out if properly researched/bred/taken care of. It is a predisposition, but it's only worsened by people who don't care and good breeders do work hard at trying to get rid of that problem. *shrug*

I'm still waiting for the ugliest human contest.
Tue Mar 27, 2007 5:51 pm
Well the Elephante man was ugly, but he had a beautiful mind. I started watching a show about him, but I couldn't finish it because it was too depressing.

Haha, I love how most of the ugliest dogs were Chinese Crested. Hairless rat dogs.. yech.
