Who bottles your Dr Pepper?

Wed May 23, 2007 5:09 pm

As you probably know, according to where you live, either Coca-Cola or Pepsi bottles Dr Pepper.

Who does yours?

Pepsi I think.

I have no idea, but as Noo says Pepsi, I'll say that as well. :)

I went and fished a Diet Dr Pepper can out of the recycling bin to find out.
"Canned by independent bottlers under the authority of Dr Pepper Company, Plano, TX 75024."
So neither?

I live in St. Louis, where Dr Pepper/7Up (a subsidiary of canadian company Cadbury Schweppes) is headquartered. So while I don't know, I'd imagine mine says, "Bottled by Dr Pepper."

My Diet Caffeine Free Dr. Pepper says: "Manufactured by an affiliate of Cadbury Schweppes Bottling Group, Inc, under the authority of Dr. Pepper Company, Plano, TX, 75024"

Hah mine is just a complete guess - in fast food places it's usually offered alongside Tango and Pepsi, so I guessed at Pepsi.

"Canned by a member of the Coca-Cola Bottlers association, Atlanata, GA 30327, under the authority of Dr Pepper Company, Plano, TX 75024"

Took me longer to type that than to drink it.

Good point! I've never seen it with Coke around here, so I guess I'm the same.

Really? McDonald's doesn't sell Pepsi, only Coke. At least, it does where I was, anyway.

Depends on the neighborhood. Dr Pepper intentionally sells itself with the most popular soda in the region, since it's an independent.

They had a big to-do with Wendy's when I was in high school - Coke wanted to have Dr Pepper removed from all corporation-owned (as opposed to franchised) Wendy's restaurants, since it competes with Mr. Pibb, which is a Coca-Cola product. Wendy's said, "We have a contract with them, but we're happy to not renew your contract and switch to Pepsi when it runs out."

Coke blinked first, so all corporate Wendy's restaurants still have both coke products and Dr Pepper.

I'm guessing Pepsi simply because we used to have the Pepsi Arena, and there's a Pepsi plant about an hour or two away in Cicero, NY. I have no idea where the closest Coca-Cola plant is.

I have pretty much stopped drinking sodas, but most of the ones I get when I want something are neither of the two colas' products.

Don't want to niptpick, but there's no period in "Dr Pepper", nor in "Mr Pibb"....

People always get that wrong unless they read 8BT.

Hmmm. I didn't know that Dr Pepper wasn't with Coca Cola or Pepsi. I guess you learn something new everyday.
