Hi there.
I was thinking of buying these tees for my kids but don't know what the Japanese characters say. I hope they say "oh no" and "super cute" but... there's no telling.
Can anyone translate for me?
Thanks!!

you gotta be careful with that stuff.
I had this awesome shirt full of characters on it.
Well my friend (who's from China but speaks & can read in several other Asian languages) asked me about it. She said it was just a bunch of random words and didnt make sense.
I'm guessing the company just found some characters that looked cool and slaped them onto a shirt.
I havent really worn it since...and I dont think it'd fit me anymore anyway. I just dont want the joke to be on me!

For the first shirt, the two japanese characters, called katakana, are phonetically o - no. I'm guessing the third is an exclamation mark, but I can't tell. But in Japanese, it means axe. So you've got two meanings there.
For the second shirt, it is phonetically: ha ro - ki te i whichiis pronounced haro keetehyee. In Japanese, it means absolutely nothing, so I'm guessing the company tried to make it say happy kitty, and failed.

That's awesome, thank you so much for your help.
Since it is a hello kitty shirt, I think your guess is very near the mark - trying to phonetically get hello (haro) kitty (keetehyee).
Thank you again for your awesome help.

The first one could be saying o-ha which is a kittens way of saying 'mornin''

haro keetehyee means Hello Kitty.
