Ow.. My back!

Sun Aug 01, 2004 3:07 pm

Ok, so my niece and nephew were here all week. I've been picking them up a lot, playing with them, and yesterday my back really started hurting. Now it's all I can do to walk around. But I made an exception to get on the computer. haha

I definitely think it's from picking up Maddy and Ty (Niece and Nephew). I mean, they climb all over me and I have to play horsey (lol), and they always want me to carry them somewhere...

Anyone ever put their back out? My mom thinks it's kinda unusual for a 15 year old to put their back out.. But my sister did it when she was around my age. So I dunno...

I've been putting my neck and back out since I was about 12, I see a chiropractor regularly to sort out the problem (usually has to place things back in their usual position). Only advice I can really give is don't stay in any one position too long (sometimes you can strain you're back further or it can start to stiffen-up), take some pain-killers if it gets too bad and if it doesn't start to improve take a visit to a chiropractor or your local doctor. Hope you're back starts feeling better soon!

Oh, and I wouldn't suggest doing any heavy-lifting for awhile!

I semi-did that a bunch of times, as I volunteer, and that work involves a lot of physical labor. Don't put too much pressure or strain on your back, and don't sit for too long. Maybe that last one's just me, but sitting and typing too long when my back hurts just makes it worse.......

I put my back out all the time, lol actually it's out right now and has been all week.

all started 11 years ago it was injured from someone ramming into my shoulder at an LRT station. it jarred my back and it slipped my disc. It does it every few months it seems now, If I move wrong, even turn wrong or slightly jar my back. apparently it's common once you've slipped it you'll always slip it again. and this is where Tiger Balm has become my best friend it helps a lot since I can't take Ibprophin.

and I agree sitting just seems to make it worse, I'm usually lying on the floor with my feet up or just standing. sitting just makes it stiffen up too much.

I put my back out about 2 months ago and I'm only 13! It will hurt quite a bit for the first week or so, but it should start getting better after that. My doctor gave me some exercises to do to help my back, so it may help yours. You've to lie face down on the floor and bring your front upwards without using your hands. Then you've to do your back. and if you feel like it, both at the same time. Try it and see if it helps you, because it has certainly helped me.

My friend did the same thing. He's my age, (14) and he like wrapped his back around a computer chair because he was bored. He eventually went to a chiropractor, and now it's good as new.

I threw my back out for the first time when I was about 15 (maybe younger can't really remember exactly what age I was).
But I remember I was sitting on my bed doing something and I sneezed.. and it was a pretty big sneeze so I sorta jerked forward when I did it and OH BOY!
I was in instant pain. I could not sit back up and I couldn't even walk. It took me a good week to get back to normal.
I still have back problems today. I can't stand up for too long b/c my back will start hurting like crazy. :(
