Now it's Eo's turn to rant!

Thu Aug 05, 2004 8:27 pm

Ok. The first thing is-
Nobody
Ever
Responds.
To
Me!

Seriously. What does it TAKE? I put up a poem on the PPT art gallery. 26 or so views and no one responds. This wouldn't bug me as much if I hadn't put "Please RESPOND" in the title! GAAR! Do I have to offer 100,000 Neopoints to responders?

And that's another thing. On the Word Games and Contests board, you have to make the winners billionaires before more than four people will enter! I was giving a 10k prize to the winner of my set contest. And what happens? When they win, nobody posts their username because they are afraid to respond to my posts because then I'll think "Oh good, people pay attention to me" and be happy! AAAARG!

The second thing.

If you're gonna make me a set or something, don't make it too big for the rules. If you're in a set contest, you ought to know how big the limit is- not to insult your artwork, Paola. What bugs me is I've seen people with sets the same size who DON'T get their sets taken away.

In summary: Don't make my life harder than it is.

Thu Aug 05, 2004 8:30 pm

i got the set thing as well. my avatar, when i first came on my avatar was removed a few times, and my signiture keeps gettin gtaken away as well. and what anoys me is thta thye put the arning thing in the signiture so everyone can see your mistake. Also, some people don't know how big/small 80x80 or 400x100 is. And it is anyoying when no-one repys to your post, so i totaly know how you feel.

Eo : I really don't think that the neopoints are the problems with some of the set contests. Sometimes people just don't know what to make. I've noticed that with your set contests you usually have something very specific in mind. It's usually easier to ask someone directly for it for that sort of request {at least, in my opinion anyway}. I know I don't enter contests that have extremely detailed requests, because I'd rather use my own imagination. It's just easier for me. {Hence me not having a request board. ;P}
If someone is unaware of the size limits for avatars and signuates, politely remind them. If all else fails, you can always resize the image yourself.

Twitchy : If you are unsure about the size of your image, upload it to your own server, then right click the image, go to properties, and it will tell you how big the image is {width and height wise anyway}. If you need help resizing it you can always ask someone.
I'm sure the moderators put a message in your signature so you will know why your avatar and/or signature was removed. I don't think they have the time to personally PM every single person who's signature was over the size limit. It's nothing to be embarassed about. It happens to a lot of people all the time.

Exactly. And sometimes people just can't come up with anything. For me it has nothing to do with the prize.

And people do respond to your posts. Maybe not all of them, but I have seen some of them that have been responded to.

As for that poem, keep in mind that probably not as many people go to that forum. And it's only been a day.

I've often had the same problem with my poetry. Artwork seems to be the lifeblood of the Gallery. Poetry is it's oft-forgotten sibling there.

Ok, NOW I'm officially TICKED OFF. Look at this:

{signature over 400x100px removed. Read the rules}

My sig, it turns out, is 250x75 Pixels. WHAT THE CRAP IS GOING ON?!

And my set request this time wasn't very specific at all. (I know that last time is was WAY too specific.) It was asking for a depressing picture and some sort of lyrics. Not too demanding (though I did have a specific song for any Murron pictures). I am ticked off.

And I know not many people go to that board- but look where it says how many times the post is viewed. Sigh.

Fri Aug 06, 2004 7:16 pm

Did you have multiple pictures in your signature?
Perhaps you should try being a bit more grateful to the people that entered your contest rather than complaining about how many didn't.

Fri Aug 06, 2004 7:17 pm

Perhaps your signature's picture(s) exceeded the 50 KB limit?

Fri Aug 06, 2004 7:33 pm

*hugs* I'm not as obsessive a poster as I used to be (hey, everyone goes through the spammy phase, right?), so if a title catches my eye, I view it. If it doesn't, I don't. Simply put, that is.

Maybe make your titles a bit more snappy (like this one?)?

And I'm crap at set contests anyway, so... I couldn't enter.

Stories are also forgotten. I never put my stories/poems up on PPT because no one ever replies unless you bug them to read them and reply to them. It's annoying. X_x

and what anoys me is thta thye put the arning thing in the signiture so everyone can see your mistake.

I don't like people complaining about the way this forum is run. X_x I think it's perfectly sensible to put it in your signature. They don't want to PM you - that'd take too long - and if they didn't put it in your signature, you'd probably bombard them with PMs asking why the frick your signature was removed and should you be worried about it?

Fri Aug 06, 2004 9:17 pm

i'm not that good at getting the ideas, so if i went and looked at some set contests that gave me a good idea i might enter, but it's the ideas that are the problem for me.

eo was it fun to rant ive nevr done it?

Fri Aug 06, 2004 10:31 pm

I found that starting titles with certain letter look better than others, for some reason If it starts with an H I don't want to look at it...

Reword your topics.

Fri Aug 06, 2004 11:14 pm

That's the problem... It's impossible to reword my topics to please everyone. Some people (like me) want a dramatic title, like "The Shadow Descends" as opposed to "A Poem I made"... Some people want a title which says what something is, like "Pics of my Furcadia character", some people want a title which grabs your attention like "OH MY GOD! HELP!"... ye can't please everyone. Bealocwealm Boarding School, for example- sounds like a general boarding school RP, which vary in popularity, unless you know what the word Bealocwealm means- in which case it's a must-see.

I've always placed more emphasis on what's in the post than what's in the title, though I suppose a title is important too.

(Note to person who wrote the best Eowyn fanfic she has ever seen- PLEASE rename the thing, the title sounds like it's some horrible disgusting snake-and-sword thing.)

Well, thing is, you can't please everyone. I usually look at your stuff, but I don't really see much of it around. X_x. Hardly anyone on this board clicks on my topics.

Then again, I have only made one since I've been here. XD
