I want a create a topic on my forum that lists valid proof techniques. Whatever examples you could provide would be very helpful.

What
are valid proof techniques?

i.e. the inclusion of sources.

Sources of valid proof for what, though? Are you asking for ways to reference articles, etc or places to find proof behind various facts?

What I want are examples of how one can appropriately prove one's point to be fact. Attaining reliable sources is one way.
I want to make a sticky topic on my forum, specifically in Serious Discussion, where debates are commonplace, and people tend to make claims without the right kind of proof.

Jst make a sticky, then in your message say what you want that stickys disscusion to be for.

I think encouraging members to link their references would be the best way to go about that. Although, with informal debate you can't really expect everyone to keep track of their sources.

you can prove nothing, its pointless to try.

An example of an invalid proofing technique would be something like: "I'm right that globalism is a better system than nationalism because Albert Einstein and H.G. Wells believed in such a system."
What I mean by invalid proofing techniques -- example: 70% of Americans are against homosexuality.
You need valid proofing techniques. Quoting someone popular saying it is an invalid proof technique.
Anyways, I think I'll make the sticky, but later if I haven't made a good list by then.

Only mods, super mods, and admins can sticky topics, and, I'm don't think that topic will be important enough to the forum and its members to sticky. If it's active enough it won't need a sticky, since it'll be kept up from the new posts. It doesn't need to be stickied to be seen.

He's talking abut his own forum
Just make people post links to their references... that should work the best.
