Hurrican Charley EDIT: And Frances, and Ivan, etc.

Thu Aug 12, 2004 6:31 pm

Incase some of you don't know, there's a rather large hurricane that is about to start pounding the west coast of florida. The hurricane is supposed to hit land within 24 hours and travel right through central florida. For all of your who live in the tampa bay area, you can go to http://www.wtvt.com and find out where there will be sandbags. Most of the local firestations are handing them out. The one in my area has a very very long line, but please don't let that discourage you guys, if you need them, go, don't kick yourself for not waiting afterwards. All of you can go to that site to track the storm if you'd like, they also have the hurricane guide if you've lost the one that was given out earlier this year. If you need batteries and water, you should definantly hurry because I can't find any anywhere, so you're cutting it close if you need em. Good luck everyone, hopefully it'll go by fast and just speed through the state with minimal damage, but it doesn't look like it'll do that. Godspeed to you and yours, hope to see you all in a few days.

~Maria

SaphEdit: Edited the title of the thread to avoid anymore confusion.

Yeah, good luck to everyone on the east coast, from Florida up to the Canadian Maritimes. Both Tropical Storm Bonnie (I think that's the name) and Hurricane Charley'll hit, following each other closely, too.

Have fun looking out your windows, though! :D

Actually, Bonnie has already hit the panhandle of Florida and is moving north. Charley is right on Cuba. I've been lucky to have never experienced a tropical storm/hurricane in Corpus Christi, but I have felt the effects of Tropical Storm Allison that hit Houston.

Even though I'm pretty safe in Pennsylvania here, we were hit pretty hard by Isabelle last year (you should've seen some of the trees here). Good luck, and do your best to protect your house!

EDIT: I just looked at the maps at weather.gov , and it looks like both are heading right for me! Fun, fun...*gets out the pylwood*

You lost most of your town due to one tornado? I pity you.

Yeah, NC is gonna be it. Both are headed right for it. Obviously, they both will weaken, but there will still be flooding. And Hurricane David just hit NC too.

A 'mini' hurricane in London, that's something I'd like to see >_>

You might get some bad gales over there but there aren't any hurricanes.
