Contacts!

Yesterday I got my first pair of contatcs. They work quite well, though sometimes my vision slides out of focus since I'm still getting used to them. It also took me an hour and a half to put them on for the first time. I can take them off fairly quickly though.

Do any of you remember those contact commercials that showed the people getting the for the first time and they claimed that they couldn't feel them? Well, guess what? You can, and they itch like crazy for about ten minutes, and then you can't feel them.

Any other contacts stroies people want to share? Anyone planning on getting contacts?

I have never neded anything to help my eyes, although I have ben sitting at this computer for about 8 hours now (I'm at work, nothing for me to do because I'm a tmp, so have been working on Neopets all frigging day!)

A friend of mine has daily contacts and she has hell trying to get them out again, but she said she can't feel them when their on. PErsonallm I don't like the idea of putting something in my eye.

For the first week, getting them in is going to be tear-inducingly frusterating. Keep at it, though, because soon you'll be able to pop them in quickly. As time goes on, you don't notice them at all!

I don't need glasses but I'v always wanted to wear color contacts, but they're pretty expensive from what I hear.
Umm my mom used to wear contacts but she stoped because she wasn't comfortable with them, and a friend of mine has been wearing them daily for just about 4 years, so it's become a part of her.
Although I do remember her having problems getting them out one time...

Same here. My mother suggested that I switch to contacts, but I refused. On the other hand, my brother has been using contacts for at least a year already.

Argh...I have contacts, they're just for sport. But the contact sport season finished and i've had no need for them, as I prefer my glasses anyway.

I want contacs. *Whines* My mom said I'd get contacts for my birthday. But I didn't. And my glasses are near-broken. And my eyesight sucks. And I want contacts. < /whine >

I've been wearing soft, toric contact lenses for about two years now. I remember when I went to get mine...yeah, took me about 2 hours to get the first one in and then about 10 minutes to get the second one in. Those commercials are absolutely right. Once you get used to them, which shouldn't take long, you won't feel them (unless you're crazy and leave them in for too long).

Ah, I don't want to give you any nightmares--but I got a horrible infection from the contacts I wore--I lost most of my eyelashes and some of my vision for a while--it was nasty. However, it was because the contacts I wore were extended wear contacts--the kind that you could "supposedly" sleep in and leave in for a week without taking them out. I have to wear glasses now--though I really loved the contacts until the infection occurred ( I had worn those type of contacts for about 5 years).

On a more positive note: My husband has worn contacts for years and years and has never had a problem--his is the kind that you take out every night before you go to sleep and put in once you wake up. And, he is diligent about cleaning them!

All of my close friends have glasses, including me, and all of them switched to contacts instead of me. Well I dont think I need them because I don't have such a high number.
They all had a hard time with them at the first week or so, but got used to them. Just remember not to sleep with them because they dry up and get nasty. And not to rub your eye when you have them on, because they can roll up and go to the back of your eye (both of these happened to one of my friends.)

I have had contacts for about a year and a half now. I mostly use them for sport becuase they arent as precise as my glass, thus if i was to wear them for a whole day of school I would probably get sore eyes. But yea its true they usually do hurt or itch for the first 10 mins after putting them in, even if you wash them thouroughly before putting them in. At first it took me a really long time to put them in, but its true, with practice u get better at it, and now i can put them in in about 2 minutes. Hope everything goes well for you.

Oh and Mistykal, I heard that it wasnt possible for them to roll up and go to the back of your eye no matter what. Infact all three of the specialists I saw told me that, but maybe they can.

If you sleep with them in for an extended period of time, they'll definitely get dry and your eyes will not at all be happy. I usually take mine out every other night and I haven't had any problems yet.

As for the rubbing your eye thing...I'm sure I'm rubbed my eyes many times and all that's happened to me is that the contact sort of gets moved out of place...gets an air bubble underneath or something...but they've never fallen out of my eye or gone where they aren't supposed to go.
