I am not being political or religious or anything, but can everyone give a small moment of silence to all the people who died in September 11th, 2001? Thank you.

It's very freaky when you see smoke on the horizon and little bits of memos float down your block.......
We were in school when it happened. The school administration, being fools (as was often the case) never told us what happened, even while they were calling us down because our parents were here. We only found out because one of my friends overheard two of the teachers talking.....

Copied from my LJ:

I was watching television today- of course, every news program was about 9/11. This sounds really wrong, but I don't agree with all the hype. People die everyday, yet these people are HONORED for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Don't get me wrong, it's a very, very sad day and thousands of innocent lives were lost. But I don't think people should get so worked up about it. Just me. But before you assume things, yes, I did give a moment of silent for not only the people who died in 9/11, but all the people who died in the past three years. They ALL deserve to be honored.

I was going to put in something about a moment of silence for the troops too, but I feared it would cause controversey with the subject of the war.

if were going to do it properly we should remember everyone who ever died protecting whatever.
doesnt matter what, they died saving their vision of civilisation, in retrospect itd be a better idea to include them in the 11/11 memorial ~~(or is that a uk only thing?

Rememberance is not honor, nor should they ever be confused. People that lost a relative or friend have a right to get worked up about it to their heart's content. There's no reason that they shouldn't.

and there is no reason for everyone else to honour them moreso than the millions who had thier lives wasted in the fruitless charge.
16 million people in one day of fruitless fighting, or 10 thousend who were in the wrong place at the wrong time?

I think that the people of 9/11 should be remembered, but that it serves as a reminder of all those who died not only from 9/11 or from war, but from other causes in other countries. The sorrow that 9/11 brought was not felt only in America but in other parts of the world, so likewise, other countries' griefs should be shared and those dead remembered as well. (One such grief would be the Russian children.)

It would not be respectful to bring in too many references to politics, war and so on, as arguing is sure to commence and then the thread would have to be locked. A little peace in the forums when remembering loved ones would be kind.

I did something very special for my rollcall in my journal. It was in red and blue (I would've made it white if it wasn't for the fact the journal BG is white), and it had lyrics from Remember Me by Ginny Owens and Mark Schultz. It was like the song was wrote for that day.

Lillie is dead on. Do you really think that 9/11 is only for the people that lost their lives on that one day? This is a thread for rememberance not for clouded thoughts. I have no reason to discuss this pointless matter further. It would be wise for you to cease the conversation permanantly and respect the wishes of others as well.
