Happy Owain Glyndwr day!

For those of you unaware Owain Glyndwr (Or Owen Glendower to the English) was a Welsh rebel who took control of his country, Wales, and the Welsh princehood by force 600 years ago today. He later established his Parliment and therefore defied the rule of the English king Henry the fourth.

Of course very soon the English with their superior resources, weaponry, technology and numbers crush him and his parliment. And Wales was again under the rule of the English.

However this is a day we Welsh remember, cherish and enjoy. The last Prince of Wales.

I hope that if you are unable to join in with the festivities that you will at least be able to understand the resons we celebrate this day.

Yay! Wow, that's actually really interesting. I'm sure a lot of us haven't much clue about Welsh history.

You know, this thread would be soooo much more interesting if I actually knew Welsh.

I saw this on my calendar when I looked at it today, and I had a feeling I would hear something about it from Mat before the day was over.

Basically theres a whole host of events going on over the next few days, for the many of us unable to attend, I guess knowing about him will have to suffice.

Happy Owain Glyndwr day, Mat and all you other people with Welsh blood in you! *laughs* At times like these I wish I had something I could say I could link back to Europe instead of pure Chinese blood. Ah well.
