Anything and everything goes in here... within reason.

As many of you already know, I've been saving for parakeets for quite a long time now. Well, on Saturday, I finally got them.
Snowy is probably the younger of the two. I can tell he likes to make new friends- he never leaves the side of his cage mate. Snowy is a rare albino parakeet that is already warming up to life with me- he already has allowed me to touch him. Cyanna, the female, was kind of named after the mod on PPT. The main reason I named her Cyanna was because of her color- she is a pale, cyanish blue. Thinking about the color cyan instantly made me think of Cyanna (the mod) for some reason. And, like Cyanna the mod, Cyanna (the bird) is quite intelligent, even for a bird. She's probably the most comfortable living with me so far- she isn't completely silent all the time, like her cage mate, Snowy.
The people at the pet store said these birds were raised only by their parents, not people, so they would take a while warming up to me and it would definitely take lots of long hours of training. Besides the extra time, they need a mandatory hour of interaction a day, so you'll probably be seeing me a lot less.
Anyway, just wanted to share with you that I've finally gotten a pair of parakeets that I've been working very hard to get. A friend of mine will be coming over to my house with her digital camera very soon to try to get some pictures for you.

Not yet, but I believe she is the older/wiser of the two, which inturn makes me think she's more careful.

Now to see what Cyanna (the nonfeatheredIthink one) has to say about it...

Whee... more personality updates.
Snowy is more skittish. Now, skittish and cautious are two very different things. Cyanna's already realized I'm not going to hurt her, so she basically stays put whenever I need to do something that involves my hand going in the cage. Snowy, on the other hand, goes ballistic and tries to get as far away from me as he possibly can. However, he only does this when I need to put my hand inside of the cage. He's completely calm if my hands stay out of the cage. Cyanna sings to me often, yet Snowy remains silent. The two will get their first baths soon- don't worry, I've done my research and know what I need to do.
Pictures soon, hopefully.

Lucky! I've wanted a parakeet for years now! Didn't get one because I had a cat, and now that I don't have a cat anymore, I want another cat. XD
Parakeets are cuuuuute. Yours sound cool. *cant wait to see pictures* :3

I've got four.
But mine aren't for play, they're more happy chatting and playing with themselves.
I love my birds, and I miss them here at college.
I have a light blue one, a yellow/green split, a white (my oldest at 6 now... used to have one that was 15.), and a pale green.
My weirdest color? Definately this really gorgeous green-grey. Pale... muted... whatever. She was lovely.
My friendliest? My old yellow... (who sadly got egg binding... ) she loved to be held, she'd sit on my shoulder and play with my earing and just chirrup in my ear.
I miss her. Her name was "coo" (like the sound, not the "cool" word).

Congrats Dawn. I've always thought parakeets are cool. My Grandfather had one with Jake, and he was trained him to say 'Jake's a baby bird.' He died a few months ago. Old age bites.
EDIT - *sniff sniff* Phew! Wait...I can use my quote now! *runs*
