Target coming to canada?

Mon Sep 27, 2004 5:22 pm

There have been rumours of Target coming to Canada.
And today I saw like 15 target trucks on an empty lot.....
(And it said target.com on them....)
Is Target coming to canada?

A store which contains various merchandise such as Neopets (I believe). Mostly aimed for kids. However, I may be wrong.

It is like a wal-mart.

It's not really mostly aimed for kids. It has a large toy section, yes, but it has housewares, clothes, foods, beauty products, jewelry, outdoor things, and just about anything else you can think of. Pretty much like Wal-Mart.

And if you you see fifteen Target trucks in an empty lot, then yes, I'm pretty sure that it's safe to assume Target is coming to Canada. I don't know why else there would be fifteen Target trucks just sitting around. :P

I hope Target's not coming to Canada- well, they can come, as long as they don't do what they're planning.

From what I hear, they're trying to buy The Bay, or if you've studied Canadian history, The Hudson's Bay Company, which has nearly 200 years of Canada's history attached to it. They're trying to buy the entire company and convert them all to Targets.

Sure, I hate what HBC sells now (they went from fur trading to perfume, women's stuff, bedding, and other oddities), but it's played a major role in the country. HBC used to own over half of the land that's now Canada (but then traded the land to the Canadian government in the mid-late 1800s), and they had a huge role with Native relations and the shaping of Canada. Having it all thrown away in a takeover by some US company seems rather insulting.

I don't know, as I live in the United States, but I love Target stores. We used to have one here a while ago, but it closed down. :(

My roomate is totally obsessed with Target. I don't fully understand it. I mean I know that Target usually has slightly higher quality stuff than Walmart, but she seems to have this compulsive urge to go to Target like once a week. It isn't like Target is the only store around for miles either, I'm going to college in a fairly large city in eastern Massachusetts; there are more than enough stores nearby without having to go out of the way to get to a Target.

Maybe Target is trying to create a cult through subliminal advertising and my roomate is one of the first to fall under its influence...

My brother did say that the Target trucks were for a Zellers.
So Zellers is closing down and getting replaced by target?
Cool....
We have a Zellers about 10 minutes away and it would be awesome if it changed into a target.
Every other store in that plazza has changed but that one.
(Well maybe the grocery store and pharmacy store haven't)

Good riddance to Zellers. Totally expensive and started off with bad service.

Yes, their service is horrid. But if they buy zellers, wouldn't that kill the Club Z thing? And HBC is in that thing. They better not buy HBC. then all the history textbooks would be wrong and the oldest company would be target or something idiotic like that

Thu Sep 30, 2004 11:26 pm

Zellers is part of HBC, so it'll get taken over as well. It'll most likely be the entirety of HBC taken over by Target (if ever), but only several stores replaced, I assume? They can't replace all the Zellers, The Bay, and Home Outfitters stores out there.

As for the history textbook thing, HBC will definitely stay a part of it. Only change would be the fact that Target bought it. Won't make Target something part of the 1700/1800s.
