University (or graduate) PPT-ers!

Sat Oct 30, 2004 11:57 pm

Just wanted to know who in PPT is currently/formerly a University student and what year you are currently in, what program you are taking, where you are going, what you want to do with your degree!

Curiousity strikes.

I'm a 2nd year Cinema Studies Major and Anthropology Major with a possible minor in Classical Civilization. I'm at the University of Toronto, St George campus, I'm not quite sure what I want to do. I have weeks upon weeks where I want to go be an ethnographer and study native peoples and differing cultures all across the world and learn their rituals, how they live/eat/work. But then I have weeks where all I want to do is write screenplays for the rest of my life. Confusing!

You?

Sophmore here. I'll probably have junior standing sometime soon. I can't remember how many credits that takes. I haven't declared a major, but it looks like anthropology with a concentration in Evolutionary Studies.

I didn't realise how many anthro majors there are. My roommate is an anthro major (anthro/chem double major doing pre-med - she's nuts) and so is my best friend at a different school.

I'm in my second year of my Bachellor of Fine Arts at Red Deer College. It's got an amazingly brilliant fine arts program for the first two years... if only it could offer all four years of my Bachellors...
mrm.

Next year I plan on transferring to either the U of A (University of Alberta) or the U of L (University of Lethbridge). I'd prefer to go back to Edmonton... where I belong. But... with my friends starting to disband... and wander the globe, I have less of a reason to return, and more of a reason to go back to globe trotting on my own!

What I want to do with my degree?
Crud. I want *prays* to get my masters. But apparently it's amazingly brutal and all you do for four years is have your art get slammed into the ground, ripped apart and shredded. Not something i'd enjoy.
But I really want to teach at a college/university level. I don't... want to teach high/junior/elementary schools, because I don't like kids at those ages (unless they were mine, then i'd have to like them). I already help my friends out, and I enjoy teaching people with a high level of enthusiasm about art.
*nods*

Good luccck with art, I couldn't handle first year visual arts studies, but then again, NOBODY goes to University of Toronto for visual art unless they really couldn't get in to a real program ;)

Spira - I dont know any anthro majors at my school, you'd think with 60,000 undergrads I'd have at least one friend in the program, but no such luck.

Heh.
I'm dying in my second year. But thats only because i'm in Classics, which is a completely non art based course. Darn it.
*writing a paper for it right now; about... a quarter of apage done out of ten pages* Heh. Eep.

Don't I know it!
I stupidly took a 3rd year course in Cinema this year and its like WOOSH over my head. Theres a 25% assignment due on tuesday that I've barely worked on. -_-

Heh. I used to be an art history major (a physics major before that - I won't even go there). I'm so sick of art history courses right now. I can't wait for this semester to be over so I can have a more anthro concentrated schedule.

I'm in my third semester/second year of college right now.
I'm enrolled in the Paralegal Studies program, but I'll most likely have a different major by the end of the Spring semester. I've been taking a lot of History and Photography classes lately. I have no idea what I want to do with myself. Hopefully I figure that out before I graduate. ;P

I'm in my final year of a Bachelor's of Science in Education degree in English Education (7-12). I'm in the process of applying for graduate studies in English Literature. If that falls through, I'm going to apply with my boyfriend to teach English for a year in Japan, then try again. Eventually, I'll actually teach.

First year college student here.

I'm currently working towards one of two degrees (if not both), Computer Science and/or Video Game Design. It's going to be a tough decision, but I'll probably have some time to make it because I had to take a whole bunch of those general requirement courses this first semester.

I graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor's of Psychology with minors in Anthropology and Sociology. I really only lack a Bachelor's of Sociology by 5 classes but I couldn't take another semester lol.

I work as a Mental Health Therapist now, I really like it. I'm planning on going back and getting my Masters soon.

1st year college, my first semester I'm just taking a couple part time courses as an exploratory thing. I'm in Accounting, Introductory Programming and Computer Information Systems. Next semester I'll probably pick a program at BCIT to take, maybe in programming or somesuch. I work at a software developing company and like it there, so I hope to get some education in a similar vein.
I'm also thinking of taking some art courses at Emily Carr just to keep my options open. I could use them, in any case.(If you've ever seen my art :P )

From what i've heard, Emily Carr is a brutal art school to go to. *Shudders* i'm more technically based... Emily Carr (a couple of my proffs went there, one taught there, and I know some people in my program who went there as well), is just... *shudders* it's the "art for arts sake" sorta thing, from what i've heard. And critique is rough.
Neither of which I agree with.
But having never been there, I suppose I shouldn't have said that... yeah. *blinks*

I'm actually a college graduate, although I'm seriously considering returning for a graduate-level degree.

Right now, though, I'm a professional fundraiser.

I'm in my 2nd year of University (two more days of classes, then exams and then I'm in my 3rd year!). I'm currently studying two degrees, Law and Finance which means I'm going to be at University for at least the next 3 years... I also want to do a minor in one of the Mathematic subjects but I don't know if I'm going to be able to fit the units in.
