I've been trying to figure out when my PPT one-year mark is. I can't get the exact date, but I'm pretty sure it was sometime in October or November '03 (maybe even August or September!). I think it was November, because I don't remember being here for last Halloween, but I may have been. And I was definitely here by the beginning of December, as I remember all the holiday festivities of 2003. So this is my closest approximation, and I wanted to say a few things about being here.
I can't believe it's been a year. It seems like I just got here yesterday, and it seems like I've been here forever. PPT is full of wonderful people who have given me advice, made me laugh, and best of all made me feel like I really was a part of something special. I have learned so much from all of you, even those who I've never really spoken to personally.
I just want to say thanks to a few people--
AtomicBlonde for watching some of the ALCS with me, helping me avoid as much of that stress as possible (anyone who's a Red Sox fan will understand!) and making those games more fun.
Fiddelysquat for convincing me to apply to be a moderator, which, although it hasn't happened yet, is still something that I will be continuing to go for.
Base for actually knowing what I'm talking about when I rattle on about PPT in real life
I wanted to keep this short, but know that this applies to every member of the PPT community. You are all great, and you have all in one way or another made this past year a better one for me.
Of course, there are some moments of the past year that I'd rather not remember, especially when I was new and still not entirely clear on the rules. I still often forget that Bill, Games, Help, etc. actually exist, but the mods quietly move the topics without causing me any major embarrasment. So thank you to the moderators, Super Mods, and the admin for doing a great job in keeping me honest.
Lastly, I'd like to say one more gigantic thank-you to every single PPTer here for making me feel so welcome. I know I'm not one of the really famous PPTers, but I'm starting to feel like a real part of this community.
...whoa, that was quite long. Cookies for everyone who read the whole thing!
