Sick

Sun Nov 07, 2004 11:44 pm

I have a sore throat and I have been blowing my nose (Two boxes of tissues worth) all day!
I need a cure.

Everyone gets a cold.
They're quite common in spring and the begining of winter.
Just wait it out and take care of yourself.
Eat properly. If you're stuffy take something to make you unstuffy.

It is just that I have somewhere very important to go to all day tomorrow and I need to be better.

Drink tea with honey. It tastes horrible but it really relaxes your throat.

Drink lots of fluids and relax. Try to get lots of rest tonight and go to bed early. Hopefully with some rest you'll be feeling better. I hope you get better soon!

Join the club.

(Seriously, everyone's getting sick lately, so we should start a club =P)

Drink cream soda and wear fuzzy socks, it's helping me.

I've found that ginger ale is a pretty good soda to drink when sick. Also, don't expose yourself to extreme temperatures or changes in temperature, as that could aggravate your condition. After all, temperature changes are probably what got you sick; it messes with your immune system a bit.

Shock! Horror!

Are you kidding? Tea & honey = <3

And not only does it taste good, but it really will help your throat, too.

Horrible? How can you say that??? It tastes great!!! <3

Oh and you can also try making hot milk+butter+honey, it really helps.

Avoid, if you can, any drugs that would supress your fever (if you have one). Your body's immune system works better when your body temperature is a bit higher than 98.6, hence it purposely raises your temperature, and hence the reason for your fever. Supressing the fever might make you feel better in the short-term, but it's also preventing your immune system from functioning optimally.

In fact, you should generally avoid taking any drugs. And drink lots of water. Chicken soup couldn't hurt, either.

Vitamin C is supposed to be really good at helping your body fight colds, so either take a supplement or drink plenty of pure orange juice. Keep wrapped up and have plenty of rest, everytime you sleep your body is fighting off the cold. Honey is great for a sore throat, and if you have any of the cold relief drinks they should help too. And if you find that constantly blowing your nose is making it cracked and sore, try putting vaseline on it.

Sending you lots of hugs and get well soon wishes!!

Eating oranges/orange juice, drinking plenty of fluids and getting lots of sleep is essential to fighting a cold :)

Also I find boiling lemonade in a saucepan and then drinking it helps.

::blinks:: I must say, that is one of the oddest things I've heard.

I'v got the same thing now... I could swear i'v already gone through 200 tissues.
The only advice I can give is stay away from fans and ACs...

And I hate tea

What I recommend for anyone who either has a bad head cold or is stuck-in-bed sick is sucking on vitamin C drops all throughout your sick period, as well as drinking plenty of water and orange juice. Always lay off of greasy foods, overly salty things like potato chips, anything spicy, and if your a smoker do NOT smoke while being sick.

Vick's Vapor Rub and NyQuil are my friends! :) Also taking anything like DayQuil will get you through the day if you have to go to school or work.
