Flooding!

Mon Nov 22, 2004 7:03 pm

Ooohkay.

Usually I get home at around 3:30, after waiting for ~45 minutes for my mom to pick me up.

But today I'm home before 1:00 PM due to flooding!

We were supposed to get released an hour early, but since today was a Thanksgiving luncheon, most parents were already there, so they said our parents could just take us home if they were there. My parents beat all the others to the signing out sheet, but it looked like a line to get bread after a hurricane o_o;;

To give you an idea of how bad it's flooding: It's been raining on and off for a few weeks. The ground is horribly saturated. There are a ton of human-sized puddles in my yard (2 in my frontyard, 1 in my backyard.)

The people that live about a street from me have these small red rocks a the edge of their lawn. Half of them have been carried down the street, across the street, ect.

I live in southeast Texas. I know it's flooding all over Texas. @_@ So there will be more rain passing through here.

Eep, it hasn't rained this hard in a few years. Hold me Mommy, I'm scared o_o;;

Do you live in Waco?
They were showing a lot of the flooding on the news last night. Mostly with interviews from people who drove their cars into deep water or attempted to cross bridges with water on them. >.<

No, I live in the Houston area. Waco's not near here. Some of the roads have 2-3 feet of water on em o_o;; Thankfully I live on the northwest side of town, and my school is literally a quarter of a mile away. Long story short though, every morning I have to go to the Middle School (across freaking town ⌐⌐), so the ride to my regular school was... interesting. It was very dark and there was a ton of lightning. It seemed like something straight out of the Twister ride at Universal Studios.

Same, except I live in houston, and I just recently got back from Katy, where my dentist is. :P On the highway I could barely see a thing, and flood warnings were coming through the radio. I'm already on my Thanksgiving break, so I'm fine with it, as I wasn't planning on going anywhere this whole week.

Btw, we have a lot of people in Texas, don't we?

All I can say is..
I'm glad I don't live there.

We had flooding in our area this summer, hopefully your drainage system is better than ours cos it kept flooding the sewers into peoples gardens....yuk! There has been alot of strange weather all over the world this year for some reason. But, hopefully it doesnt last long where you are, maybe just long enough for a day off school eh?!?!:D

Actually, I don't want to have to completely miss school. I'm thinking more along the lines of "starts late and ends early", in which case, we would not have to make up the school day. :D

It rains in Texas? :o

Yea, and I just got home and the rain was coming right at us. Three transformers got hit and there was a bright blue light each time it hit. It was so windy the car was being blown like a foot or so across the road. I thought there was a tornado that was going to drop down because of the way it was raining...

It's been raining for almost two days here. It's getting ridiculous. The news isn't helping much either. D/FW people can not drive in the rain. Mentioning floods makes them panic. Panicing makes them crash into people who can drive in the rain. Although, the news has also been over-covering the extremely disturbing tale of the arm woman. >.<

I live near Cincinnati, and we are supposedly going to get POUNDED tonight, including possible tornadoes. Storms are my biggest fear, though, so I'm freaking out like I do when they make predictions like this.
