My brother went upstairs to open the lights so he can watch some television however once he flicked the light switch on, our three spotlights blew a fuse and the family room lights shut off along with the christmas lights (and tree) and the kitchen lights. The telelvision, dvd player and VCR are not working. However, our living room lights, and upstairs lights are working. The television in the basement and computer in the basement is also working. Anyone know why this happened?

They might just be on separate circuits.

That's most likely. In our kitchen, we regularly blow the circuit there. However, only the lights and the microwave are effected. The refridgerator and stove still work fine.

The problem is fixed. My simply went and pressed or fiddeled around with the fuse button and everything came back.
