It's the right place.

Hmm, I'm not an expert on brands of cleaners, but maybe something like Formula 409 would work? Some sort of heavy-duty cleaner, plus a lot of elbow grease.

I have no idea though. **waits for smarter people**

What kind of paint is it? Watercolors or a water based paint? I think that either one should come up with something really strong like Saph said.

I'm finally back for the summer, although hopefully I'll spend a little more time away from this screen.

at most hardware spots you can buy a product called goof off, it's made to get paint or almost anything off. spot test it on an non noticable piece of carpet first as it may lift off the carpet colour too.

If it's an actuall water color based paint, then the best thing you can do is get it wet, and sponge it out, and pray that it does come out. Use a bit of soap...
You can also try a mixture (and be careful about this), of baking soda, and dish soap. Spot testing is your friend!
Or you could try Club soda.
However if it's that icky kids tempera paint, the best thing you can do is keep scrubbing.
I've managed to get dried acrylics out of clothing before... but water colors can do weird things to clothing because it's more of a stain then a plastic. *shrug*

Dab or rub in little circles, but don't push-pull or smear. I've had horrid T-shirt stain experiences.

"Look Mommy! The stain grew!"

What color is the carpet?

If it doesn't come out, you could put a rug or something over it :)

Try a bit of oxy clean...or carpet stain remover with oxygen stuff in it. If it can remove baby lazagna from a white carpet...it can remove almost anything
