I have noticed that a fair amount of PPTers have at least a small interest in Egyptology. When I noticed this article, I felt it was interesting enough to post.

It is pretty amazing that sites and artifacts are still being found in Egypt. I would have thought most would have been discovered, plundered, or lost by now. To find an entirely new temple of great importance to pharaonic times, is quite amazing. It really makes you wonder what else could be found.

I feel bad for the people who have to move their businesses for the excavation. Hopefully they could use the extra tourism to their advantage.

That is amazing to think they're still coming up with things like that today!. But poor flea market. :P

Wow, right in Cairo! The Souq al-Khamis is actually a very popular marketplace. I have friends who've been lucky enough to go to Egypt and they did shop there. It's not the largest marketplace (Khan El Khalili Bazaar) and won't affect (hopefully) some of the higher end and well-known shops (Madam Abla is one of them for the best belly dance costumes).

Ramses II (health, life, prosperity!) was extremely prolific in his temple building. He was determined that he should live forever.

I think another fun thing about this story is that the History Channel is doing new specials on Cleopatra and the Lighthouse at Alexadria tonight. Those of you on the East Coast caould be watching it right now.

I love Egyptology. This new find just adds more vigor to the field.
