One other thing... have you used a Mac very often before? The Mac user interface is a bit different to Windows, and some people who are used to Windows really hate it. I still get a bit annoyed at the windows management, I must admit (ie. I miss the Windows taskbar :(). There are good points and bad points to both user interfaces though.

Yeah I've used it before, and I love it vs. Windows.

And this virus... could you guys give me more info on that?

Oh yeah, and how much does it cost to bring a computer into the shop if you need it fixed? I dont know how to fix that stuff and my dad builds computers, but has never worked with a Mac, so he couldnt help me, so I owould have to bring it into the shop

I, personally, can't stand Macs. They're insubstantial (my mom's looks like a picture frame with a keyboard, whereas my Megumi-chan takes up an entire table), everything is hardwired in so you can't upgrade at your leisure, and the OS is very cumbersome to use. My girls, Megumi and Neya, are both Dells, and I'm very happy with them. If something's wrong with my computer, I know where to go and what to unplug and re-plug to fix it. Also, it's much easier to find software for PCs.

If you want something with a lot of memory, though, I'd say go with the Mac. My mom's has 4 GB of RAM and a 200+ GB hard drive. Of course, it's brand new and Megumi's almost 6 years old, so I really shouldn't compare. I've heard they're great for graphics, but I've had no trouble doing graphics on XP. -shrug- I just don't see why you should pay extra for a Mac when a PC can do the same thing. And if you really like the Mac OS, you can buy it for PC, I think....

Just my 2 cents.

Well, the virus isn't a huge thing, the media is just making it bigger than it seems because hardly any viruses are made for Macs. As long as you get the patch if you get the Mac, you'll be fine. (Oh, and antivirus/firewall software)

I'm not sure how much it costs to bring a Mac into a shop, as they work a little differently.

One of the things I hate about Apple is that the Mac OS is only for Apple (legally anyways). I think that if the Mac OS was licensed for even just one computer company like HP, Dell, etc., just one of them, their business would boom. I personally would buy a Dell with Mac OS because I like Dells but hate Windows.

I love my imac, have had it for 4 years and never had a problem with it. Sometimes I wish it would malfunction so we could get a new one though. :)

Once the computer I currently have crashes and burns, I'm probably going to go with a Mac powerbook. Macs are great for really specialized things such as graphics or music editing. It's a bit odd to switch from windows to Mac OS, but once you've used it for a couple hours, it's completely fine. They're notebooks are a lot lighter and thinner than PC laptops. That's just my two cents on the issue. Good luck deciding.
