So apparently Neil Armstrong's famous quote when he walked on the moon, "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind" had a missing 'a' between 'for' and 'man'. After his mission he was criticized for not saying it grammatically correct, although he know he did say it right.

Well, some fancy audio analyzer picked up the 'a'. THe article can be found here.

Seriously...

Who cares? I mean, this is so incredibly pointless. I doubt it would have been remembered as well if the 'a' was picked up by the transmitter. Oi, some people have too much time on their hands...

A rather tenuous link, buy this reminds me of this tape tht my class used to love to listen to over and over again in school when I was like eight or nine. It involved a criminal that had stolen words and people had to go all over the world looking for the sounds and pieces. I think it was the Happy Birthday song that was stolen.

My only thought/question is: you only heard about this now?

It has easily been an open fact since he returned almost 30 years ago. Even a few years ago, the writers for the show Histeria! did an entire bit about the line. This is old news. No one really cares that the general public has it wrong. Even a NASA fan like I don't care that he is being misquoted. It isn't even good for parody like the astonauts losing the bolts in this last space flight.

Moving on, the next shuttle launch will be in December, but I will be the first to say NASA is nuts for trying a night launch so soon.

Actually, Michael Jackson stole that when he 'accidently' ran off with all the Beatles' music.

I'm afraid no plastic zombie werewolves were involved.

Tbh if the moon landings were faked they'd have used to the take where he said it properly.

Yes, Sky, I only heard about this now, but in that news article it's been pretty much confirmed that he truly did say the 'a'. So, it's not really old news.

You know, I think I like it better the way it's known now. "One small step for Man," with Man capitalized. Because Neil Armstrong could be ANY man, so he's Man. It's like when you're talking about, say, Cro-Magnon Man, how Cro-Magnon Man did this or ate that.

I could have sworn that the 'a' was common knowledge for years. I remember growing up, watching Histeria, and laughing at the cartoon Neil doing bloopers, meanwhile showing that there was in fact, a little smidgeon of an 'a'.

And wow, I'm not the only one who watched histeria. Woot!
