there are some that can actually be taken apart - i remember marcus used to have one that had a little key which would make the thing fall apart then you could put it back together. although it also had shiney colours, so once they faded slightly the green and the blue looked the same, so it was impossible to do!

I used to find that throwing the devil machine across the room helped me solve mine.

Saying that, I've long since "lost" it.

According to the Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Will Smith can do it in seconds.

I'm more of the pop the pieces off and snap them back together type.
Incidentally, if you know someone who "totally pwns" at rubik's cube you can put the cube together with ONE corner piece wrong (i.e., rotate the piece so it never matches up). Then mess it up and ask them to solve it. Guaranteed to drive them nuts.

Nah, we tend to realize that you messed something up on us sometime around the final steps. :P

You could also make yourself one of these snazzy Rubiks cube solver-robots.

I could never finish those stupid things - was way too hard, man. The ones I got I couldn't even break/peel off stickers. Lame.

Real skill, of course, is solving a Rubik's Cube while completely drunk. The webcomic artist of xkcd has video footage of him doing this, according to him on his IRC channel, and the hardest part of it is locating the Rubik's Cube.

I, unfortunately, cannot solve a Rubik's Cube even in the best of conditions. My lack of skillz is disheartening. :(

Man, I wish I still had my Rubik's Cube. I'm pretty sure I remember owning one (so long ago).. perhaps I broke it out of frustration.

My big bro could solve it in a couple of minutes... I on the other hand have never solved the rubiks cube and don't have one any more cos it was so frustrating, I threw it out the window and became the dogs new chew toy. Yes, he was a biiiig dog.

I have a strategy for them, but it's a bit tricky to explain. Basically I try to get the side I call the top fixed first so I can only worry about messing around the the other two rows. Since the top is finished, I can usually shift it back into place easily if I have to move it around to get something else to go where it's supposed to go.
