...what? It seems to be in the in thing to do as of late.
I, DM, have learned why you should back up.
A while back I posted a link to my LJ, explaining that my offline computer (lovingly called Josh) basically...in a nutshell, a sploded.
And now from what I'm picking up, only have two options:
1 - Run a LiveCD (which therefore means
it pays to run Linux 'cos we've got like eight Ubuntu CDs plus an ancient version of Knoppix) and mount hda1 and sda1 (hard drive and removeable media [thumb drive]). Back up files from hda1 to sda1, then reinstall Windows 2k Pro.
2 - Run 2k Pro recovery console and run
chkdsk /r. Now, if this was Linux, I'd freak out considering -r removes stuff, but this is Windows we're talking about. The /r is for repair. XD
So one day when I have the chance and won't get caught, I'm going to run chkdsk.
Hopefully, this will work.
P.S.: KIDS, TAKE THIS AS A LESSON.
FREAKING BACK UP EVERYTHING ON YOUR COMPUTER. :[
