Hi all, on thursday lunchtime, I was with my friends and we were bored. So then I took out my wallet and started making hearts out of....paper money. :) I remembered how to make it from years ago when my aunt taught me. so then I made some. And where did this idea come from? Well my friend's brother folded all my friend's paper notes into stars so when she paid...she paid in stars XD Actually she had to unfold them. :P This "oragami" can be used for practical jokes, gifts or whatever or whenever you're bored! Here is a step by step guide to making one. :) Bear with the vague instructions >.<

Step 1:
Obtain a paper note, in my case, it's a Hong Kong (ugly) 20 dollar note.
Image

Step 2:
Fold the paper note in half, the way it's shown in the picture.
Image

Step 3:
And fold again...make sure the top is the side with many folds/gaps!
Image

Step 4:
Image
To get it to this shape, fold your long piece in half, open it and then fold both sides in so the sides touch centre line. This way you can make sure both sides are at an equal length.

Step 5:
Image
Turn it over and fold the two corners in so you have a pointy end.

Step 6:
Image
Bend one side and put it in one of the folds; press down to get a firm shape. Do that to the other side too.

Step 7:
And when you've done the other side, you'll have something like this.
Image

Step 8:
This is the tricky part. To make your paper heart looks more like a heart, you'll have to fold the pointy corners in to make it "rounder". Because each side is folded, you open the fold slightly and push the corner in.
Image

Step 9:
Repeat step 8 (pushing corners in) to all four corners - outside and inside and voila! You'll have your own paper heart!
Image

And you can use different coloured paper notes and different sizes of paper notes to make these hearts. Take a look at my 100 HK dollar heart :)

Have fun ^^
(poor instructions but shhh) :P

Ooooh, that's cool.

I think I have a $HK 100 note in my room somewhere still... *wanders off to go make a heart*

Gone, forever.

That $20 isn't ugly at all! It's very interesting looking. American money is all ugly and green and boring. I have made hearts from it before though.

Perhaps you haven't seen the old one (this is the new one). The old one looks a LOT nicer than this one XD

It seems like all the old money has been transformed to ugly ones :P

Which is the $20 one? I have one, but I dunno if it's the old or new one :P

I liked the $10 notes. They're shiney. And bright. And purple ^-^

It seems like people out of HK have very different view on the paper notes >.> because as far as I know, no ones likes the new paper notes XD

Green $10 > purple ewwy $10
nice greenish bluish $20 > strange blue $20
my favourite purple pretty $50 > GREEN $50. I nearly told the person who gave me the $50 change to give me a $50 'cause it looks too much like the old $10 XD

Haha, yep, ours is awesome. It's like... plastic. And like Rachel said, it has windows!

(Chass was very amused when I sent her a $5 note...)

U.S. money pwns all those. :P
$1=green
$2=very rare, but green
$5=green
$10=green
$20=pinkish-green
$50=green
$100=haven't seen many, but I'm pretty sure they're still... purple! Just kidding. Green.

I'll try making a heart next time I get my hands on a dollar, but I'm not much good at origami. All I can make is a rather wimpy crane.

Edit: Do we even have $50 bills? I never see them.

It's an old picture by the way, that $50 is long gone.

Awwwww, that's so cute! I once knew how to make a ring out a dollar bill, but I've totally forgotten how. Kinda sad, they were very awesome.
