It's irritating and wrong and theres too much of it here. Theres been reports filed by our school boards that do attribute it to the fact that we do attend secular systemed courses. Every course incorperates only one religion into it(Catholicism). Theres one course option(co-incidently, no future courses either) and thats exploring world religions.
The lack of diversity in your school's teaching materials is not to blame for this incident. The cruel, selfish, and sadistic beasts who harassed those old men are 100% responsible for their actions, and I sincerely hope that they get the pants sued off of them and get sent to jail. They are seniors, as in 17-18 year olds. A little vigilante justice from fellow students wouldn't be amiss, either.

Ammer wasn't as versed as I was. They've been suspended and the cops were alerted.
From what I have collected. The guys who did it, they're pretty big, I doubt anyone from the younger grades could've done much, although you're right, would of been quite admirable.

I faced off against five 10th graders when I was in 3rd grade because they were picking on someone. The vast majority of incidents just need someone to say, 'That's wrong, stop it!' (albeit in a more colorful way).

If I were you, i would start pelting the twelth grader with snowballs, then run up to him with an uppercut, knock him down, kick him int the groin, pummel his face, then bury him in snow before stomping on his wretched worthless junk of a body repeatedly.
I hate those types of people!

That is so sad. It really sickens me how low some people can go. The men obviously didn't have the most respected of a life, but they made due I'm sure. They were happy with who they were. That 12th grader was completely shameful.
Just because somebody is old, doesn't mean you can tease them. Words can hurt. Physical actions can hurt worse.
I hope that 12th grader realises how low he has really sunk.
He is nearly in college. He should really know better.
He owes those men much more than an apology.
Much more.
They are the same. They are humans.
Treat other humans with respect.
*sigh*

Ah geez! That's awful! My school, well, there's a little racism going on but nothing *serious*, it's more like "whites shouldn't act black and vice-versa"... I STILL haven't figured out what that means, but whatever. Generally we get along, I just can't see someone throwing snowballs at two old men like that! smurf! If I was there, mannn.... To think I get protective when people call my friends stupid names! I'd jump in front and throw snowballs right back... nah, too subtle, I'd probably just slap em as my aim is awful. (Not like they don't deserve it and all.)
All the while quoting LOTR and twisting Dernhelm's lines oh so horribly.
My friend Nasif's mosque was like... ramsacked after Sept. 11, and it's just wierd that there are people who'd *do* that. The temple across the street let them have their extra rooms... see, those are humans. (I think that might've been the temple *I* go to sometimes.) Racist 12th graders who throw snowballs at old men are inhuman. Arrg!

I go to the most red neck, country college arguably in Canada. (Go RDC), we have maybe a 2 percent minority enrollment, and the majority of those people are Native Americans.
And yet... i've never seen racial slurs, in my college. Everyone who is a minority is treated with respect, and it's more likely that you'll see people arguing about whose cows are better then anything racially involved.
Unfortunately, things like this happen in this day and age. I don't take part in it, I snap at my friends who may make a comment now and again (*points to Red Neck Country College*), but thats very rare.
And... i've showed down with a few idiots before, but to be honest, i've never really seen anything like that Ammer. And i'm sorry you had to see it, and i'm even more sorry things like that still happen.

Attempting to "take them down" will gain absolutely nothing. Its good that they got caught, they should've been reported earlier, but violence is not the way to deal with people like that, it will just make them think what they did was justified or cool because they got that kind of reaction out of another person.
You can't compare a cruel 17 year old to a 4 year old. From what I find with preschoolers, they're too young to be stupid enough to discriminate. It takes years of intolerance taught at home to develop that.

Cruelty boils me, but people who witness it, do nothing, and then complain about it afterwards positively enrage me. Cowardice is just as bad a crime in my eyes.
I know you weren't there when it happened, but those who were and just stayed silent should be punished along with everyone else. If people are so selfish that they'd watch something like that quietly for fear of ridicule, they're just as monstrous as people who think it's fun to throw snowballs at old men.
The principal must have found out somehow, though. I was about to argue with the statement, but the last two paragraphs ring very true with me. (Out out, besmurfed 5:28!)

I agree that violence isn’t usually the best way to go and I was a bit angry when I wrote that, but to say that it will do nothing is not necessarily true. People react differently to different situations.

Not once did I say that 4 year olds discriminate, I said that most 4 year olds haven’t fully grasped the concept of consequences, which is in most cases true. In fact, it was a stretch not to be taken seriously
or literally... -_-;

I didn't actually see it and I'm relieved I didn't. My friend did. She said she noticed something going on but didn't know what it was She had to leave because of her parents calling her.
I just don't understand. You see, I have never been the victim of racism out in the open. I grew up in Calgary, Alberta where the majority is white and oriental. I never once felt racism directed to me. I was naive. I still am naive. I just don't know how I would react if someone was racist to me.

If people see someone else being attack whether it’s physically or verbally, the best thing you can do is stop it TOGETHER. If more people grouped together to stop these things, the group of people who are doing the attacking will have no choice but to stop because they are cleary outnumbered.
I'm a little lady, but I stop almost every fight and every harassment I see going on. Because I would expect someone did the same for me. I've been in situations where I needed someone to stand up for me, and people were too worried or scared to do so, they've just ignored it.
This world needs to learn to stop bullying others because they are "different". But we also need to learn to start sticking up for each other.

I've been attacked before. A girl younger then me chucked a full can of coke at me because I'm Turkish. Then she continued to verbally abuse me until I walked away. There we're 5 other people who witnessed this, but didnt actually do or say anything to help me.
Its a terrible feeling to be attacked and picked on just because of what you are. I am proud to be Turkish, just like anyone is proud to be anything. No one can take that from me. But there's saying that, and then there's showing it.

It's disgusting how this kind of thing can happen, how someone can sink so low as to do that. I'm five years younger than that 12th grader, and I'd stand up for anyone being racially attacked, physically or mentally.
We need to learn to respect our elders and other cultures. This world is too racist. My school is very multi-cultural, so (thank God) this kind of thing hardly ever happens in my school. Even the bullies in our year pair up with other races.
Witnessing this kind of thing would most likely make *me* feel sick. It's disgusting.

You're lucky that you don't understand. (btw. Kudos on growing up in Alberta! Me too!). It's a terrible thing to be singled out because you look different, or your background heritage involves different beliefs. Be thankful that you havn't been singled out, and I hope you never are.

I think it might be effective during the actual event, though. If not, at least it gets them off the old men.
