I'd consider anything that has a drive through fast food.

I recall that there was a bottle shop with a drive through. Theres one near my place. Now, I'm too young to drink, but you can't consider Beer and Wine to be fast food
Fast Food is what you define it as being. Theres no definite line between fast food, and 'good' restaurants, since many fast food places like McDonalds like to consider themselves as a respectable restaurant.
Define Fast Food theway you think it should be defined. I would for example stay away from any of the usual places or any place that serves your meal in under four minutes. But thats just me.
Lent is hard. I gave up chocolates once, but had a dilemma deciding whether or not to eat a chocolate biscuit since I officially gave up Chocolate bars. That was 2 years ago. Bleh, now I dunno what I've given up yet.

Here's a tip, think in regards to how much of it is processed.
Stuff that is made fresh in front of you would most likely not be considered fast food, since you see them making it, so it's not 'fast' just efficient. Burgers or chicken that has been cooling for 20minutes to an hour sounds more like fast food.
Oh, and do a grease check.

I condsider it a place that sells hamburgers and fries ( pizza not included), that is made fast, and that you buy over the counter ( no waiters).
And that is junk food.

For instance: places where you sit down and buy your meal, no. Also, if you go to a stand somewhere and buy a candy bar or a bag of chips, that's more shopping than fast food, in my opinion. But if you walk up to a counter, place an order, they scoop it into a bag and hand it to you, that would be fast food.
Wow, that was really convoluted - probably because I'm not too sure myself. At any rate, good luck with Lent.

Hm, I'd agree with that.

Not food, either, is it, so it's not terribly relevant.
I've known of drive through pharmacies, and banks have drive throughs. It's a matter of common sense. Maybe I should have said "Anyplace with a drive through that serves food," but I assumed my point would be clear regardless.

My definition = Any food that makes you fat fast!

Fast food is generally food sold at places that don't require you to sit there and eat. That's how I define it, though you could go to a Friendly's or similar place and order a burger. Also, you could easily grill a burger at home, so you can't really say certain food-types, brand names, maybe.
I don't consider sandwich shops (Subway, Quiznos, etc.) to be fast food, because those are usually healthy and generally not "fast".

i think fastfood has nothing at all to do with making you fat or not, that would be junkfood

Hey, me too. Or in a much better word...KRYSTAL. =D

personally, i define fast food as anything that is not a salade, sandwich, soup or non carbonated drink. Salad, soup and sandwiches are ok cause I'd likely go home and make the exact same thing, esp if its from subway.
Now... I would definatly have a hard time giving up Booster Juice (smoothies)
I dont consider them fast food, since I've seen and believe the nutritional info on those, and if I have one, I use it as a meal. Makes a good breakfast!
Any input?

Any place where you don't order from a printed menu and aren't served by a waiter/waitress.

I've usually thought of fast food as pretty much any place you can order food from a drive thru window, like meowth said.
After reading this thread though, I really want to change my definition into something like, "Any place with an overhead menu that has combo numbers".
Sounds alright to me. That would include most of the places that most everyone on this thread agrees on, like McDonald's, Burger King, Kentucky Fried Chicken, etc.
I'm borderline on places like Subway and Quizno's. Both places can be healthy, depending on what sandwich you order.
As for Chinese and pizza, I would toss those in the "take out" category.

Exactly my thought. Not all fast foods are bad, though the McDonalds has made us think that way. Not all bad foods are fast, either.

PS. I consider anything you can make at home (including frozen/boxed food) as not fast food.
I can make big, fat, hamburgers and french fries at home? Same goes for everything you can get at "fast food" restaurants.
If this is because you want to know where you can and can't got for "lent", just don't go out.
