The squirting is for bitting and accidents only.

...As do all dogs. You can' t have a puppy in a tiny place and not pay attention to it, everyone knows that.
And the squirting, I stand by what I said. Don't do it, there's no need to do it. It generally won't improve behaviour.

I agree. Any dog will need a lot of attention; it would be foolish to say otherwise. All dogs need a big place to run around in, of course regarding their own size, as I don't think a Chihuahua and a St. Bernard have the exact same requirements... You just need to see your dog’s individuality and adjust yourself with it, not force the dog into unnatural patterns that you might have.

Also, squirting at a puppy/dog when it bites you is like resolve a fight with more violence, you punch me, and I punch you. The puppy is most likely to see your action as something aggressive. Al though you think it understood that biting is wrong it will probably not have seen it in that angle and may get aggression problems when it's older. This meaning that it won't bite you because you fight back but it will bite other people and even other dogs as they back off when it tries or does so.

Could always name the puppy pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis.

Turns out her name is spelt with only one a, "Klara", but the pronounciation is still the same, "klaah-rah". We tend to call her Lara though, as we do quite a lot of that squishy wishy baby-talk :D

Only one of her eyes is blue, the other one is brown, eye-color mutation... now how adorable isn't that?! :D Of course, right now I'm in the stage where I think everything she does is adorable.

*SQUEE x1,000,000,000,000,000,000*

AWWWW!
SHE'S SOOOOOOOO KWOOT!!!! *fusses over the kwoot puppyness*

*shifty eyes*

*steals her*

She's awesome. :)

(I would NOT recommend squirting, by the way. Puppies don't understand that it's wrong to bite, and if you fight fire with fire, you won't get anywhere.)

Don't worry, I would never use that method (which I find quite useless and stupid) :) One should never scare of hurt any puppy in any way when they do something wrong, just say no and use other methods to make them understand what is right and wrong.

Klara is quite amusing as this is her first time away from other Dalmatians, for the first time everything she gets is hers only so she keeps grabbing items and running with them to her bed, our own little treasure hunter. It will take a long time to learn her what she can take and what she is not allowed to touch, but she is a smart girl and I'm sure it won't take too long :)

Aww, so cute! I just adore doggies. :) She looks like a real character. :)

She is quite cute Silja. And her eyes, they're wonderful, I'd want a dog like that. I hope you don't spoil her too much.

Sun Jun 19, 2005 5:03 pm

Wicked.
I want to pick her up and cuddle her and then run away with her... but my own dogs would get jealous; so I suppose you get off easy then Silja.
She's diplorable... erm... I mean adorable!

Sun Jun 19, 2005 5:06 pm

Oh, gosh. She's got better blue eyes than I do. XD

She's adorable, Silja. Be careful of thieves, both in real life AND on PPT. :)
