Cutting your hair short is fun. I had mine cut short for the first time in 5 years last month, and I love it. It is a bit of a risky adventure, but you never know if you never try, I suppose. And there's always hats ;)

I'd recommend going to a hairdresser that you know is well recommended and good moderately priced, rather than just any cheap one. The price tends to be a bit of an indication as to how well they know their stuff, I think! Also, it's good to take some pictures with you, to show the hair dresser.

Hmm, I can't see the photobucket pics for some reason... but the pics from amphigory seem to be more examples of hair colour, rather than style...? I'm not sure if you have already, but there are some good hair style websites around. You could show the hairdresser a pic of the style you want and another pic showing the colour, and they could combine them somehow :)

When I was looking up hairstyles a month ago, I found this site. It's got some wacky hairstyles, but some very cool ideas too! http://www.virtualhaircare.com.au/virtu ... short.html

Then I'd suggest keeping your natural color because 1. I like natural hair 2. Dyeing it a lot is bad for it (but you probably know that).

Oh, it's okay, I'm the opposite, I hate natural hair :) Layers don't really work on me because of how my hair is though, I've tried before. :P

Mazil, I know what stylist I'm going to because she's cut my hair before and I like how she does it...and yeah, they're examples of color but you can see the style at the same time.

I really don't understand how dyeing is bad for you hair. For me, it just made my hair softer and silkier than it was before. Bleaching, however, is horrid.

Hmm... I must say I like the longer hair better.

But it really doesn't matter what I think- cause it is your hair... XD

Eeek. Pretty people...

Sock, you're making me want to cut my hair again. I already told my mom not to let me, though, because my aunt made me feel bad last time. Maybe I'll shave it all off, just to spite her. >D

Yeah, make sure you don't have an aunt who'll make you feel bad about cutting your hair. :P

Your AIM profile said 'Don't let me cut my hair again,' is that why? :P

My aunt is a hairdresser...she might make me feel bad if it looks horrible...XP

I thought it made it easier to break after a while or somethin'.

Not for me, and I've dyed it twice (three times in a week). Bleaching, however, like I said, is horrid. I know people who have lost all their hair after bleaching.

You might not be. I tend to only buy the super expensive (okay... $15. Which is expensive for hair dye) dyes, which may be different than the cheap kinds.

As for the haircut, Holly, I think it is fabulous and would totally steal it for myself if my school would allow it and if that wasn't hijacking your idea.

That would be bleaching. But really, there's people who bleach their hair a couple times a week and they're fine. ^_^ In fact, I just bleached mine, and on Wednesday it's going to be bleached again to touch it up so my dye colors evenly. It's not completely fried, either. Woohoo.

Actually, it depends on the hair type. Dying completely fried my Mom's hair after only one use. And a distant friend of mine dyes her hair every other week, which is why it has the look and texture of straw.

Different strokes for different folks. Medli was right on some levels...

Bleach is the most damaging.

Vegetable dyes and semi permanent dyes are alright, and can actually be good for your hair.

Permanent formulas that are ammonia-free are alright too.

Permanent formulas that contain ammonia and suchlike can be quite damaging.

I have really fine, baby hair (my daughter calls it "no hair") and have highlighted it for years and years--and nothing bad has ever happened to it. Despite the amount of chemicals used on it. It all depends on your hair stylist and the product he or she uses. I have had the same stylist for 23 years. So, needless to say, I trust him completely with my hair. Knowing your stylist and their technique is very important.

And, if you want short, go for it. I hated having long hair, because it was limp and straggly. Short gives me a lot more body and style. But, you do need to have your stylist show how to style it after it is cut. So, it doesn't look like a butcher took a dull knife to it the day after you leave the salon.

And, if you don't like it, it will always grow back. Personally, I like the short cut you showed with the blue streaks in it. That looked really good.

Tested made this fabulous set for me!!! Isn't it great?
