Bonnie (purebred lhapso apso or however you spell it)- prenamed before we had her (not sure when we had her; now deceased)

Spike (beta fish)- named after Spike in Buffy the Vampire Slayer (got him summer of 2003, now deceased)
Blueberry (beta fish)- named for his awesomely blue color (not sure when we got him, now deceased (but we had him for a very long time))

Some of these we had before I could remember/before I was born, but they all deserve to be remembered. Except for Eddie, he was pretty damn evil. A little rat terrier that everyone was afraid of... including the kids that were around 10 by then. Toy breeds... not to be messed with.

Ooh! I used to have a lop rabbit named Pebble. I can't remember how I chose the name, but everyone used to call him "Pebbles" instead of "Pebble" and it annoyed me :D

My current pets:
Felix the rabbit - it suited him, somehow. He was very spritely when he was younger.
Ricky the guinea pig - named after an obscure fairy tale character called "Ricky of the Tuft" who had tufty red hair, much like my guinea pig (props to anyone who knows of that story!)

I've got several cats!

Zorro: He is white and black, with the black like a mask and cape, so that's what his name ended up being. Mostly it's shortened to "Z" though.
Kaddish Tolesa: That is the name of a world from a Myst game. It took us forever to find him a name, then I was installing the game and saw that name go past. "We should call him Kaddish Tolesa!" I said and the name stuck. But he is usually called Kad.
Puff: Fluffy and furry, need I say more? :P
Garfield: I wanted an orange cat for years, and finally he showed up, so Garfiled became his name because I am a big fan of the comic strip. But our Garfield isn't fat.
Watermelon: He's a tabby cat that has kind of watermelon markings on his back. Plus he's really fat and round, so the name fits him.
Snickers: She is a little cutie, she's kind of calico/tabby/I don't know what. Her patterns are kind of weird looking, but kind of Snicker-bar colored. We usually abbriviate "Snicky" though.
Butter: Short for Butterscotch, he is unusual looking. He is white with yellow/orange spots on him. He's cute, too. :)

And I must make a note; the best cat of all time was named Hex. He got his name from the Nate the Great series; a character named Rosamond had a variety of cats named Big Hex, Little Hex, etc. Our Hex was wonderful but he disappeared more than three years ago. :( I still miss him though. I love my other kitties, but he was just really special.

My dog is Lucy...cause...she's Lucy Lacy. XDD

My cats:

Bumper: when she was little after I adopted her, she used to bump her head against my hand whenever she saw it. She still does that sometimes, but the name was double accurate, because..well, she has slippery paws or something, 'cause she crashes into EVERYTHING. People..chairs...frakking great walls...XD

Alice: After my neighbor, recently passed away.

Fish:

Fury: it's cool.
Enya: Enya ROCKS! <3
Scorn: It's cool.
Purple Haze: He's purple...I call him Haze.

Frog:

Chaos II: Chaos I, replaced. :P

Horse:

Miakoda: I like the name...means "power of the moon."

Bruces galore, your cat stole my name!

I have a whole bunch of fish at my dad's, and they don't have names - but we did have one who we had for like four years, his name was Ghosty, and he was really old. He went blind and hid in a little thing in the tank and had to be hand fed. He died. =[

I had a dog named Samson, he passed away a few years ago, he was older than I was :P

When Samson was 6ish, we adopted a cat, named him Goliath, keep with the Bible theme (we arn't really religious, don't know why we did that) even though it is different stories. It was kinda funny because the cat was really small.

When Samson passed away we adopted a dog, named him Murphy. We all liked that name :P

To those that have so many pets, you owned a zoo!

I got a friend who always wanted a cat named Mui Mui and we are not in contact anymore, so one of my cat is now Mui Mui but we often called her Muzzezz.

Another cat is named Brownie just because he was all in orange/brown color. We often called him Brownieeeee.

No pets. Not anymore xP

I used to have 2 turtles named TooToo and ToeToe xD One's dead now, the other one's living in a pond somewhere.

Used to have a rabbit. Don't remember what the name is anymore. I think it began with an F, though. Foxley or something.

labbiedor wrote:My dog's name is Sam. We rescued him from the SPCA and one the way home in the car, we were trying out a bunch of different names until one came up that we liked and he responded to.

We had a dog that picked its own name like that. When we got him his name was Stitches because he had gotten stuck under a fence as a puppy. None of us liked the name and he didn't know it so we decided to renname him. We just yelled a bunch of names to him until he responded to Jason which became his name.

The strangest pet name of a pet I've owned was our cat named Grape. My sister named her when my sister was around 3 years old. The cat was grey and to my sister for some reason the word Grape went with grey. Everyone remembered that cats name because it was so unusual.

Smoky - My Arabian. Named him that cause he was grey. Little did we know his registered name "Thunder" (*eyes roll*) actually did suit him since he's such a spazz.

Sargent - Our Draft, QH cross - originally named Surgeon by my brother after the Weird Al song "Like a Surgeon". But my mom didn't like yelling it across the field to call the horses in, so she renamed him Sargent.

Luke - My Shepherd male. Named that because it was the year when the Phantom Menace was coming out. It was either Luke or Rover, and I went for a less classic approach. His registered name is Enno.

Gretal - My baby Girl Shepherd - it's simply her registered name.

Phil and Lil - Turtles, Lil now deceased. Named after the twins on Rugrats

Hobbes - Tortoise - named after the tiger from Calvin and Hobbes (we thought she was a man!)

Norman - Iguana (now deceased) - a female Iguana my brother named after the cow in city slickers.

Iggy - Iguana (now deceased) - a devil Iguana my brother got from a friend.

Rex - a water snake (now deceased) - heart attack on valentines day (go figure). Named cause it was cool.

Budgies - too many to name (I still have two, and only one has a name that I know of. Deski, i've had him for 10 years now. The little green one has no name. So I call her Bob. Well I guess her name is Bob then).

Bobbie McCray - My crayfish - sadly deceased. Crawled out of his tank and into a trashcan when I was at my farm. Suicide. Named cause it sounded neat.

Sushi - Guinea pig - Named because I like Sushi, and it was better then naming her something stupid.

Fugu - Guinea pig - named because I actually didn't like her when I bought her. I just felt sorry for her. She was such a jerk when I first got her, but now she's cool.

Yeah, there's more... but thats all i'll do.

I got a fish today.

Its current name is.. well.. nothing.. but my friend will probably be a bum and name it Frog or something.

My doggie's name is Cookie. <3

We wanted to name her Co-Co, but then my mom was just muttering "cookie" so my brother said "Oh, we'll name her Cookie!" :P

I had two hamsters- which I got for Christmas >_< (not good!)- so, they were named Hammie and Harvey. Hammie always slept right on top of Harvey, and... after five days, killed him. :( Then, three days later, Hammie was found in his cage, still, and, asleep...... and he was gone.
My hamsters only lasted eight days. We spent all our time caring for them, but I think they were sick when we got them. :(

Inrun and Dawn, I always thought I was the only person with this many animals. I really, really did. Good to know there are others as passionate about animals as me. :P

That is a very cute name. Grape! :P

Well, i've had more animals then that.
I'd forgotten about the canaries, the other snakes, the salamanders, the newts, all the various fish, the snails, my other crayfish, the barn cats, my pet cow, and my parents cats.
But... they'd take too long to name.

other then my Canaries.

Pretty Boy= my grandmothers canary, we inherited him when she passed away. She named him, he had the most beautiful singing voice (he was a german roller), he was awesome.

Donatello = the white male canary who never sang. He was weird, died young. It was sad.

I had a cat named Grape.. well.. Grapes. It was black and white, a minicat, blind in one eye. Someone threw it against the kitchen wall so I took it... then someone ran over it's head. It was the nicest cat..

And since everyone else is doing their dead pets..

Kreeley- Well, don't know if he's dead or if he's in downtown Toronto, but he was Grapes brother... blind in one eye as well. Black. Very sweet, ran to see a person whenever he saw one... Named after Collin Creevey.. somehow.
Shadow- First dog I ever had that would go with me, died.
Tortoise- Cat. Died of old age.
Blackie- Tortoises brother, died in a tractor.
Carmel- Tortioses kitten, died in a tractor.
Shiney- White cat, gave it away.
The 10 finches we had- Well, that was 15 years ago so they'll be all dead now, but I did have them at one point in time.
Grey- Died in a haybine.. cat
Buddy- Hamster. Drowned in the dogs water when he escaped from his cage. That was a sad, sad day.
Mia- My first horse. Died of old age, well into her 40's.
Angie- Scrub pony I loved, but we had to sell her because she 'wasn't up to par'.

On a happier note, my fish ended up named Donkey.
