What helps me to fall asleep is to have some kind of white noise in my room, it's calming and relaxing so it helps me get there faster. My mom used to make me drink chamomille tea or warm milk, but I don't think think that ever had any effect on me.

Tea? mm, tea makes me HYPER! (It would... *checks box* it has TONS of caffiene!) Yeah, a few weeks back when it was raining buckets, I sat down with Order of the Phoenix and read it all the way through, the whole time drinking tea. I ended up having about seven cups... not only did I REALLY have to go to the bathroom after, but I stayed up till about three. So- don't try tea!

I HATE not being able to go to sleep. Because then I wake up early in the morning (I always do, no matter when I go to bed) and can't go back to sleep. Which makes me very grouchy. I would suggest taking sleeping pills if worst comes to worst.
Or, do something productive and energy-using in your day- that could help you fall asleep at night.

Seldom happens to me, but here's what I do:
Read/watch TV until my eyes start to burn. Then I'm ready. Maybe not burn, but get heavy.

Oh geez don't even get me started! Through the summer I've had some bad insomnia. I found this happened because I would mess up my sleeping pattern so much (Go to sleep late wake up late, then the next day I would have to go to sleep early and wakeup early for summer classes). The best thing to do is to always keep a steady sleeping pattern and avoid sleeping in. What helps when I can't fall asleep is the following
1.Throw my clock out the window, you don't need large numbers telling you its 3 AM and your still not asleep
2. Drink some tea/warm milk
3. Get out of bed and read for 30 minutes
4. Try to avoid thinking too much
