I have a sneaking suspicion that the only reason there even is a Canada Day is because Independence Day is in a few days. Have fun while you still can!

Nope there is a reason why Canada is specifically celebrated on July 1st.
On July 1, 1867, the British government (under Queen Victoria) approved a plan which allowed Canada to become an independent country with its own government.

Yeah, but it took a course of time to get real freedom from Britian
from the BNA act in 1867, and then another act in 1931, and then finally the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms in 1982.

So? The plan was approved on July 1, 1867, so I don't see why you would nitpick..

I think the US and Canada should combine the two holidays into a four-day mega-independence/Canada-loving holiday. That way we can all get more days off.

But then we would have to include the Australians, and I like my stuff where it is, thank you very much.
I may be late, but HAPPY CANADA DAY!!! Until us Briticians reclaim the commonwealth again, that is.

No, they have Cinco de Mayo. What do we have in the beginning of May? Nothing. We have no holidays at all from Easter to Memorial Day. I'm directing a dirty look toward the southwest right now.

I agree because in my opinion everything is fine the way it is so theres no point of changeing it.

We still get the Queen's Birthday off. Not this queen. The other queen. The important one that we get the day off.

I saw something freaky on the Weather Channel today! This couple in Toronto were watching the Canada Day fireworks and they got struck by lightning!
