Anything and everything goes in here... within reason.

OK, you beat me. I was planning on doing it a few days ago. XD
Wait...what do you mean by open? Are you talking sign-ups or for the all the forums to be re-opened?
I've got an outline and a bunch of ideas. Last year, writers block killed me. n_n
Sun Oct 01, 2006 4:53 pm
Both... they're starting signups and reopening the forums some time before midnight (Pacific time).
Hehe, last year my story was crazy
Sun Oct 01, 2006 5:16 pm
Oh, OK.
I was gonna say, if you have an account from last year, you're good to go ahead and sign in, and then start tweaking everything.

I already got mine done.

I'm probably joining this year- I've never actually done it before, though I've wanted to. =)

I think I'll give it a try! ^-^ I signed up for it last year, but never really did anything. But now I have an idea for a book, and this'll be the perfect opportunity to get off my bum and do it, lol. 'Course, that means I'll actually have to finish my organizing... ah well. :p

You bet your bunnies I'll be returning. Going 3 for 3!
It's so out of the ordinary routine it almost feels like a vacation....probably the most unrelaxing one ever.

I can't wait for November! Last year's NaNovel was so much fun to write.
I've got two ideas fleshed out, though. Hmm...should I do the one about the crazy alchemists in 1930's Chicago, or the odd one about the twins who take down the school board?
Mon Oct 02, 2006 9:42 pm
They both sound so cool, Pudding!

I think the second one though, but that's just my opinion.
My novel's based on a band that me and Medli have together called The Chicken Fivesome and Crew, along with the spinoff group for The Chicken Girlsome. There was a tour even planned to go along with it. I think I may also know what 2007's NaNovel will be if I live through this one. XD

I agree that the one about the twins who take down the school board sounds cool
I just reached 1,000 words of outline (plus 1,500 of characters and world notes), though my aim is to have at least 5,000 words by November.
I
so don't want to end up having to make up stuff as I go along

whee for overplanning!
Mon Oct 02, 2006 10:48 pm
You thought YOU overplanned? I started working on some rough drafts (and I mean ROUGH drafts) back in December! 2005! XD
Our power went out for a week, so I didn't really have much to do.

I have a basic idea for a story, but the main thing I;m doing now is drawing my characters. Don't want to have to spend time describing what they look like because they all look very different and most don't even resemble humans (they're robots). You'll probably see the finished product sometime...I might make a set out of them.
They've even got awesome names. Even if my story stinks, my characters will still rock your socks and be in crappy sequels for NaNoWriMos to come.

I'm going to participate again. Hopefully I'll actually complete it this year. As of now, I have no ideas for a story, but maybe it will be easier to just start randomly and go from there! Or maybe I'll come up with something in the next few weeks.

That sounds kinda fun. Not sure if I'll do it though, I'm not that much of a writer and I hardly have any time as it is.
Could someone give me an idea of what 50,000 words is in terms of pages?

My first was 80 pages in MS Word, single spaced. My second was about 120 pages....about 100 pages once I hit 50K
I blame it on the dialogue. I'll just put a line on nothing every time I start a new paragraph and not indent. It saves time compared to thinking where I need to put tabs.

I'm going to try and do this again this year, last year I failed at around 5,000 words, but this time I'll have a nearby support group, lol. Penn State has it's own Nanowrimo facebook group, and I work with the girl who started the group. I'm going all the way this year!
