Having a sudden outbreak of shootings seems to be a common thing. It happens somewhere, then in the following weeks many copycats follow suit. Right after the Columbine shootings there were several other school shootings, remember?

In any case, I'm so sorry this happened. It sounds absolutely terrifying. No one can keep you safe. And I know we've never been safe but experiences like the one you had serve as reminders that every moment we live and breathe is a gift and not a guarantee.

Yesterday we had an Intruder drill...It involved the teachers locking the door and turning the lights off. That will keep us safe...

Anyway, glad you're ok. I hate to see anyone die in that type of situation, regardless if I know them or not.

Hey guys, thanks again for all the support. And I live in Planview, Texas lol. It's like right above Lubbock.

And everything seems to have calmed down, but they allegedly let Mark out on bail or something. Who knows there's rumors about a repeat attack next Friday with the main target being girls. According to some kids in his class one of his teachers gave him D-Hall and he retaliated, and in the morning he followed her around the whole school so she left immediately.

I dunno, I'll go back tomorrow I know that much lol.

EDIT!!!: ZOMG I was just on the Evening news! Like I just thought they interviewed some of us in order to like have some stock footage, it was insane!!!!

Okay well it seems everything has calmed down, tomorrow going to be insane though, I can just imagine it, the whole share your feelings speech... Ugh...

This upcoming week, we have to practice Intruder drills too. It involves all of us running into a nearby room if during passing time or lunch, and locking all classroom doors. I hope other schools practice this too, I would hate this to happen unprepared.

I'm glad you're okay though, and I agree with Lost, would hate to see another death.

So, like always, the school and the whole School District is trying to cover it up and everything, so they're saying that NOTHING happened and it was all just a huge rumor. Sha, whatevs.

And they also released Marco to his parents. (WHAT?!?!) I know. Everyone is scared. Apparently he's been heard talking about next Friday, and how the whole school is going to pay.

One of his friends also said that he tried to get him and some other people to shoot down the school this following Friday the 13th. He refused, but apaprently the others accepted, and that the main targets would be girls and Ms./Coach Hammit, who is the teacher who gave him D-hall.

I for one refuse to go to school on Friday.

I remember my English teacher bringing that up a couple weeks ago. Sad.

Well you seem better now, Adex. Seem excited about being on the news. :P

We've practiced intruder drills too. And if you're in the bathroom at the time you're supposed to lock yourself in the stall, or something.

The amount of things like this that have been happening lately is really frightening. A lot of stuff like it has been going on in my school district, too. Someone brought a gun to my friend's school a few weeks ago, and not too long after that, someone from my school shot someone from one of my other friend's schools at a football game. The tension has been building ever since, and everyone is getting pretty paranoid. We're all just waiting for something else to happen.

How would that help? Bathroom stall locks aren't exactly secure...

And there was one in Essex, VT a few weeks before that. It always seems like nothing like this could ever happen in vermont, but obviously it can. It's a bit of a reality check, although even that close to me, it still seems kind of distant just hearing about it on the news and such.

My school had a huge scare yesterday, when some idiot wrote threatening messages on a desk and a chalkboard. We were having a pep rally that day, where the entire school (some 3500 kids, plus 200 faculty) were all in one giant gym. Needless to say, we were scared. We had actual plice officers patrolling the halls and searching people.

BTW, Neopet_Online, do you have any links to newspaper articles about this?

That reminds me of something else that I somehow neglected to mention. A few days before the shooting at the football game, someone at my school wrote a note saying there was a bomb planted in our Language Arts building that was going to go off at something like 1:37 PM. I was home sick the day it happened, but I was told that everyone was evacuated and the whole school was swarming with police officers. Of course, there wasn't actually a bomb- it was probably just somebody who wanted to get out of taking a test or something- but everyone was pretty freaked out.

My daughter is 13. And a school shooting is one of my biggest fears. Even though I live in one of the wealthiest suburbs of Chicago. I feel so sad for all of you in school who have to worry about things like this--even if it is subconsciously--because when I was in school, I never ever had to even think about anything this horribly sick and demented happening in my school. I just can't imagine what you must feel. When I was growing up, things like this just didn't happen. So, I am sad. Because you are supposed to have fun in middle school, high school, and college and not have to worry about some sick person doing things like this. I wish I could say something to make it all better. Unfortunately, I can't this time. *shakes head*

EDIT: I have one thing to add. No wonder so many teens are diagnosed with depression and anxiety. You have to go through so much--intruder training, fears about next Friday-- that I never, ever had to experience when I was your age. I am so sorry. I really am. And it ticks me off to no end. Because just how the heck are you supposed to learn what you need to be a successful adult in this world when you are busy worrying about whether or not someone might decide to do you harm while you are doing nothing wrong whatsoever--just attending school as required by law. I am so frustrated by this. I guess because I feel so helpless.

Wow. Your principal is extremely competent.

In our school, the rumors started floating around midday Thursday. The teachers got together for an assembly, but the school tried to play it down as much as possible. They sent out a letter talking about troubling rumors, and that everything was under control, but they never actually mentioned WHAT was supposed to be under control. I think we're old enough to know the facts, instead of just being told everything is okay. We're not little kids.
