It sounds like I'm one of the few who didn't have much trouble with my wisdom teeth. I had almost zero pain, and the swelling didn't bother me, even though I had all three taken out. Granted, I did sleep most of the first day(I only woke up to have tomato soup and change the gauze in my mouth), but I never had to take the serious pain pills I was prescribed--just the ibuprofen I had to take for swelling--and I didn't even bother with an ice pack. Although I did go out two days later and wait outside for an hour in twenty-degree weather, so the swelling went down from that.
I definitely recommend going with general anesthesia instead of local, if you get a choice. I woke up afterwards half-convinced they hadn't done the procedure at all.
The worst part for me was the awful taste in my mouth for several days afterward. Apparantly they used some sort of dressing on the holes, and it was just disgusting.

Ouch...sounds horrible. I haven't even gotten them yet and I'm almost 20, so maybe that's a good thing?
You may have them, but they haven't erupted. It's pretty common for them to never come up at all. If they've done x-rays of your teeth and there weren't any signs of wisdom teeth, you probably won't get them at all. If that's the case, I recommend you celebrate, because you don't need them and they usually cause trouble.
