I had many (bad) experiences with poison ivy and it's cousins. And unfortunatly for me, I'm affected quite strongly, several times as a child, I had to go to the emergency room for a shot of benadryl and a shot of adrenaline, and then sent home with a 10 day prescription of something...
Anyway...
I always used calamine lotion, or hydrocortisone cream. Also, you may want to invest in Aveeno oatmeal bath treatment. It works wonders for soothing.

I speak from experience. Having your eye swelled shut for any reason isn't fun.

Yeah. You go to bed one night, both eyes fine. Then the next morning you wake up and one of your eyes is swollen shut and it looks like the size of a baseball... At least thats kinda how mine looked.

And like Sapph....whenever I get it I have to go and get a shot. I don't even have to touch the plant. It can just be carried on the wind and I'll get it.

The first time I got it, I was about 5 or 6. My eye was swollen shut, had to get a shot, and just about my whole skin had these dark red splotches all over. And you know what my parents did? Took me to Disney On Ice. Can you imagine the stares I got with one eye like that? lol.

Anyways, like everyone else said, calamine lotion works really well.

Thanks guys for all your help :) I'm sure my parents won't take me to Disney On Ice, therefore I can avoid any embarrassment :P It's much better now, but for some reason I think my nose is infected. I did itch my nose a little yesterday and now it hurts whenever I touch it. Do you think Poison Ivy spread there?
