GDI.dll is the Graphics Device Interface. It deals with the graphics of the operating system, such as fonts. If you boot to DOS, what you should do is boot to DOS with CD-ROM support and use the "copy" command to copy the file from the CD to the "Windows\System" directory. I believe that gdi.dll is located in a .cab file on the CD. M'kay, I'm still having the beep problem... (That I posted in a thread, because I didnt notice this one...)

I think it comes when I watch things with moving pictures or something. I'm not sure if it happens with games, I have to test that out. But, my parents play card games in the net, and mostly the beep thing happens to them while they're playing. I think the card came is made for Macromedia Flash, not sure. But apparently, some other moving pictures cause it too, like animated gifs and flash films... It's such an annoying sound, it hurts my ears. This giant BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP that continues for minutes... Ugh. Well, is there anything that I could do to solve this? I have Windows XP Professional, if that helps.

I think your computer is flatlining.

But really, I think the beep is from the computer's overheating. If the computer is still on and the motherboard speaker makes the beeping, it means something. If you have a motherboard manual, you should consult it. If not, just give me the motherboard brand and model number.

I think I've been spywared, but Norton Anti-virus, nor meaya has decteted anything . The only thing it's doing so far is bombarding me with anyoning popups everyonce in a while(I have a popup add blocker but it's not helping), swtching my homepage and causeing weird links to apear in things that I type.
But it's anynoning...ick

I'd suggest downloading and running Spybot Search & Destroy and Adaware 6.0 if you haven't already. Make sure you update the reference files first though - hopefully doing that will fix the problem.

I downloaded spybot search and destroy, but weird links are still poping up everywere, and my computer is still sooo Slooow....

When you load up Ad-Aware, there's a link button that says "Check for updates now."

Initial installed reference files are dated back to August 2003.

Ahh, I downloaded Spybot search & destroy rather than Ad-Aware, so didn't see the buton.
I guess I have to download Ad-Aware as well, or just Ad-aware?

I have a question. There is ONE site I go to that shows signs of spyware. A lot of words turn into links. However, I've run 3 different spyware/adware scanners and none removed it. I am worried it is my computer, but I don't know if it is my comp or the site....

A lot of sites have text ads enabled. A script finds key words and makes those words into links which lead to advertisements. It's what the site uses to make money.



Did you check if your speakers were plugged in to the right ports?

Ever since yesterday, I'd be playing Battlefield 1942 and my floppy drive would make this noise and I will lag for 2 seconds. It does that every minute and it is very annoying. Please help
