I find them boring for some reason. Dont hate me, I just dont like to watch a bunch of people run around a station... I'm a sad, sad person, I dont know much about sports and I'm bad in every aspect of them. I could watch them if they seem interesting, but most of the time... I'll be put to sleep by the effect of it.

Join the club. :D

I'm not a really sporty person, but i do enjoy watching the Olympics. There's just something about the competitiveness and determination...

I'm looking forward to the soccer and swimming.

Lillie darl, not to be a nitpick, but it is the Athens Olympics. Athena is a Greek God.

Unless they have been referring to it as that somewhere, but certainly not in New Zealand, that is for sure...

And as always, I will be rooting for dear old NZ.

Did you know the five rings on the olympic flag reprisent the five continets:africa, asia, australia, europe and the americas.

I thought that it was Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and South America, with Oceania being included as part of Asia at the time of making. Please correct me if I'm mistaken. I learned those were the five continents some years ago. :P

Lillie, here's some info from Flags.net:

The Olympic Flag [Ratio 2:3]

The design of the Olympic flag was adopted in 1913, but it was first flew over the Antwerp games in 1920. The five rings represent the five continents, Africa, America, Asia, Europe and Oceania. At least one of the colours of the rings appears in the flag of every country in the world.

I'll be looking out for badminton, the local papers say that there's a good chance that they'll bag Malaysia's first gold medal! =)

I'll watch as much as I can, but I'll be on vacation for part/most of it so I'm likely to miss a lot.

I remember that I watched the (Winter?) Games that were held in Salt Lake, though. Especially the figure skating ones.

I usually only watch the opening and closing ceremonies, but this year I'll be watching more than that. That's mainly because there are a bunch of Texans in the Olympics. (Go Troy Dumais! [He was a student at UT :P])

Ditto. And I'm not a competitive person at all so I find no joy in sports :P

I'm an olympic junkie, and will probably watch a bit of everything except basketball. I'm especially interested in tennis, diving, and gymnastics. The olympics will be on pretty much 24/7 so there will be no shortage of things to watch. :P

I only watch gymnastics and the horse events.

I beleive they start the 13th in the States. I'm just not as into them as I have been when I was younger.

The there is one that annoys me about Olympics and the Winter Olympics.

That being the fact that England, Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland compete as Great Britain when they should be taking competing as themselves instead. :x BTW I do not consider Great Britain as a country.

I expect there are other people here from the four above countries who would love their country compete against the other three above countries and the other countries who take part in the Olympics and the Winter Olympics. It would be cool seeing England, Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland compete as themselves and win medals for themselves instead of Great Britain.

But alas as always they will taking part as Great Britain :x

On a side note shouldn't the title of the read Athens 2004 Olympics(instead of Athena 2004 Olympics)?

Where abouts in NZ? I live in Queenstown :p.

Anyways, looks like lots of people like the gym stuff :).

I also enjoy watching the weight lifting their facials are so funny XD.

Off topic- one of the counselors at my camp was from New Zealand. She lived really close to where they filmed part of LOTR.

On topic- I watched the horse events at the last one; I was obsessed with horses at the time.

What's Oceania?

I like watching the Gymnastics also....and the opening and closing ceremony. I think I like Winter better though because I like watching the Skeleton,Luge,Speed Skating, and Figure Skating, and I agree...the last olympics were awsome.I REALLY liked the opening ceremony.
