Yes I agree, I have watched that show from the very begginning, I 'm 17, and when i was growing up there was nothing like that really, it was mostly The Cosby Show, or Full House, and then I got into the Simpsons when it came out since it was so funny and its nothing like Full House or the Cosby Show even though they were really good, and I still watch it..

Disney's "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" was pretty revolutionary being the first full length animated movie.

"The Great Train Robbery" pretty much set the standard for the Western Genre

"Star Wars" pretty much set the standard for Science Fiction films.

I think maybe the most shocking US television show was "All in the Family" We had never seen a character like Archie Bunker before....and we might never see one like him again.

Big Brother. I hate it, but it has definitely changed things. Books don't count do they? Because then I could mention "Nineteen Eighty-Four"

EDIT : Look Igg *points* I changed it. :P

Star Trek. :)
I have an explanation in Dutch, but I can't find a way to translate it into English without messing it up.

But Star Trek did some stuff to the world and its inhabitants^_^

I doubt any show, movie, or song changed the world although it may have changed the way people watch television, listen to songs, and watch movies.

I agree, although for some people, things that affect they way they watch tv and movies and listen to music can change their world.
I must say that when Nirvana's Nevermind hit the radio, my world at the time totally changed. If a movie or a tv show can change the way even one person thinks, it is definitely possible to change the world.

the two movies i see referenced the most are psycho and the matrix. both of them changed the expectations for their genres.

It changed the way the world sees New Zealand (as in: 'Hey, theres a country called New Zealand + they can find it on a map now too).

XD

As for me, I am gonna have to say Pokèmon and Yu-Gi-Oh changed the world... Along with the Simpsons, and LOTR..

The Matrix certainly changed film making and TV advertisements. "Bullet-time" is now commonly used

I love "Bullet-time" but it's been killed by the fact it's been used too much. :(

Yep, a load of adverts now use it, so its far too common. Still...wonder what the next "revolutionary" special effect will be...

It has to be something completely new and unexpected. Hmm.
