I'm not logical at all. I'm very impulsive and can be over-passionate so I tend to act on my feelings before thinking.

i prefere the Logic in chaos.
Chaos tehory aside i will often make a snap decision based upon a feeling, unfortunetly those feelings have gotten me into very deep doodoo more often than id care to remember.
so its back to the logic in chaos i suppose.

Yeah, you're right. It's impossible to be all one or all the other, which is why so many people have said both. It's true enough that people use both, I guess, but although I'm a P-type I think there's a lot to be said for the value of actually drawing conclusions about this sort of thing. Yeah, everyone's got some F and some T, but most people have more of one than the other, and that predominant tendency towards logic or feelings is what, I think, you're trying to get a feel for on this board.

Of course most people use both, but most people also use one more often than the other. Some people do most things based on instincts and feelings while some people think through most things they say and do, tear it apart, analyse it, then evaluate if it is logical and rational or not.

There is no right or wrong, though. The former can be branded as impulsive and irrational while the latter could be said to over-analyse and "unfeeling". Socially, feeling people are normally more attractive than logical people.

And look, I'm over-analysing things again. :P

Feelings. I understand logic points of view, and I try to consider it, but I will almost ALWAYS trust my gut. If my instincts tell me to do one thing over another, I will go with them. Although, right now they're telling me to study all my horse stuff so I can get picked for a good team tomorrow at the stable I go to, but I'm not listening to them. -_-

your gut will usually be wrong.
my gut told me to step left.
my head sead move back.
i trusted my gut.
got a drop kick to the ribs and kidney.
*nurses aching ribs*

I usually use both. Sometimes I automatically snap into analyzing a situation while others I follow my feelings blindly. It depends what mood I am in.

Maybe your gut was taking one for the team? (A team of one, as it were.) Perhaps your head would have been hit if you had listened to it, just as your gut was hit when you listened to it.

Then again, maybe I'm absurdly overanalyzing the situation.

Nope. I was thinking the exact same thing...

Scientifically speaking, your gut doesn't think, and the phrase "listening to your gut" is more of a figurative one. :P

I use a mix of 50% logic, 47% gut feeling, 3% of spacing out in those kind of situations.

Sun Apr 17, 2005 3:12 pm

Yeah, yeah, I know. It's still a useful expression, though. Occasionally, I also find it useful to use "heart" to refer to emotions.

Mon Apr 18, 2005 12:05 am

I tend to prefer logic because feelings and emotions are always so up and down. Sometimes I can't help but take the feelings route because it just tends to take over.

Mon Apr 18, 2005 7:53 pm

I know that I should be for logic, and for thinking things through, but too often I base decisions on feelings instead. My reaction varies on the situation, though.

Mon Apr 18, 2005 9:13 pm

I think I use logic more than I use emotion, but then there's always those times when I do something and then I can't explain why.
